Arma 3 - Hands On

Arma 3 is shaping up to be an impressive, realistic and authentic simulation of the battlefield. It's a nice title that will appeal most to hardcore war simulator fans, but the attempt by Bohemian to streamline the complexity of the Arma experience is welcomed. For fans who are itching to get their hands on the closed beta there is not long to wait - the beta should be available for download on 24 June through Steam.

There are many gamers who complain about shooting missions played on rails, or multiplayer crapshoot carnage. Arma 3 is not one of those games. "I have played this one mission 50 times here at E3," said van't Land. "It's been different every single time."

Take on Mars seems to strike a great balance between an adherence to science and a sense of what makes a sim game actually fun to play. I’m looking forward to snapping photos and lasering rocks when the game launches later this year.
