VTS Simple weapon resting

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Our server community was missing the possibility to rest our weapons and improve our shooting stability, so while waiting for BIS to implement it or ACE to be release, I cooked this and feeling sharing it :

-Resting your weapon reduce the recoil of your muzzle and the sway of your aim.

-It does work with every weapons (even future addons one).

-You can rest the weapon on windows frames, top and on corners of objects.

-You can also rest your weapon on a crouched partner.

The default keys to rest your weapon is : Space + Ctrl.

Installation :

-Extract both folder into your Arma 3 installation.

-Launch arma with the shortcut -mod=@VTS_weaponresting

-(Optional) Edit userconfig/vts_weaponresting/vts_weaponresting_config.hpp to change the shortcut

Cheer.

-Removed CBA requirement

Nice work L etranger. It's the same as ACE does, that's perfect.

Next to the aiming sway issue, it works like a charm.

Please find a way to reduce the weapon sway and this addon will become essential.

Hi, looks like a great addon; i've seen the video where it shows how the weapon is rested on the pal, and i think that it should rest on the pal's shoulder instead on his/her back. It's common to do it that way IRL with the MG3. Very good addon anyways. Let's C ya

Well Done, Now only if we can get bi-pods to work. Now I have yet to test this our but how much side to side aiming do you have?

@sgt_Savage2003: If you watch the Video you can see him using his guns Bipod, right around the end.

Just had a little play with it. Just fantastic! I have mapped it ONLY to space (ala ACE2) and it 'does what it says on the tin'. I take it there is no animate command for bipods yet (thinking on the MX SW of course)?

yesssssssss. Nice work!

I know you said in the op that this works with "every weapon". I'm just double checking, but this means weapons in mods too, right?

@Djin : Yes, it's not weapon Dependant so any new weapons would have the resting ability too.

@Wipman : It's far from perfect, and having to aim exactly to a shoulder would take you 5 seconds ingame, where IRL you would do it in 1 second. I'm more on the side of a having smooth flow.

@sgt_savage : Once your weapon is resting, you can slide it on the cover has long it still have "contact" with it.

That's the beauty of this community ... we dont NEED BIS to make it now. They can get on with doing other things - L'Etranger has this one in the bag !

Now all we need is for him to take over Mandoble's guruship :)
