Ban the spam!

Recommended Posts

I have had a hotmail account for 6 years now and i as you have probably guessed, rather then dump the account i have choosed to keep the account for obvious contacting reasons. The problem, welll, it started out with a few from a shopping spam, but it has blown out into a full scale war against me. What do i do? Do i unsubscribe from the computer (possibly registering that my email is an actual address thus increase spam or do i cope it like a man?) or something else i haven't thought of. Anyone won a spam war without resorting to spam. I'm seriously pissed about this. I have no idea how my address was sold out anyway. help!

First off, your addy most likely wasnt sold. Companies (if you can call them that) have bots that search out peoples addresses. Its like an auto-dialer. Second, if your on hotmail, you can set your security level to "Exclusive" so that only messages from people that are in your address book will be delivered to your inbox. The rest (Spam) gets put in your junk mail folder, and you can delete it en-mass.

If I remember right, when making an account to Hotmail, you agree

that your address can be use for advertising.

That's the price you pay for free e-mail account.. sad.gif

I would normally do this but i recieve outside mail not from my friends list (eg. i'm expecting an email from this company and i have no idea of the address it'll be and don't want to have to add them to my list). ad-bots..eek!. Aaahhhh.. their coming to get me!!! </acting like an idiot>
