7850 recommended, I have a 6870. ARMA III on actual RELEASE?

What's the deal with you guys? I provide some simple, neutrakl information and you act like I'm attacking you. :D

Calm down yourself.

Sorry MadDog, discussion of performance always gets the crazy out of a person! ;)

I guess looking back, it would have been better to quote UKFX and let him know that those settings really are not doing anything for the game. Quoting me made me feel like I was getting schooled or something when all I was doing was telling him what mine were set to.

But it's always good to have knowledge on these things so thanks for posting!

I think people need consider what "minimum" and "recommended" actually mean, opinions obviously differ here but here's my own take:

To me minimum is just that, the absolute floor hardware that the game will run on at all low settings and something like 1280x720 resolution. - Expected average FPS of around 30

Recommended on the other hand I always see as the medium settings, think current gen console quality. So average resolution (1440*900 - 1680x1050) medium detail settings with advanced features like AA, AF and post processing off or very low. - Expected FPS of around 30-40.

So I reckon they should add a Hi-Performance recommendation like EA did with crysis3, where you're guaranteed (as best as they can guess) to be able to play at max settings at 1080+ resolution with all the AA and PP you want at minimum of around 50-60 fps.

Under current Alpha build on my hardware detailed below providing I'm not the host and the server is decent averages of 40-50 FPS on the "High" preset and 1080 resolution with 4xAA and FXAA set at Standard is pretty decent in my book, as I said before it very occasionally dips to mid 20's in frantic fire fights when lots of particle effects but not enough to warrant me lowering any settings.

Gigabyte GA Z68X UD3P B3

Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4.0ghz

8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz

AMD Radeon HD 7950 (XFX Double D model)

120gb Agility3 SSD for windows and select games like ArmA3

1tb Samsung Spinpoint for steam and other games

I'd also mention that adding that SSD actually really helped my A2 performance when I got it.

I've just learned to cope with the fact that Arma games are different. They are not built to a standard like say Call of Duty where 60 frames per second at all times is a must. Arma is built to run, and the devs try to get it as smooth as possible, but they are not confined to such targets like minimum 60 frames per second. I will admit that it is difficult to accept that hey, that's just the way it is, but really it is.

At least with great hardware right now you can come darn close to averaging 60 fps at 1080p+. Could be a lot worse, like a 30 fps slideshow :)
