What am i doing wrong with my tanks

Why is it when I take the Commanders position in any of the tanks in OFP and Resistance, I tell the AI gunner to fire on a target and nothing happens.

Im am not "Turned out" and am using the "REAL ADDON" and can,t find anything in the FAQs.
