Recommended Posts

but Japanese Arma 3 Alpha Supporters has lamented.

Japanese publisher say:

"if you buy ARMA3 from steam, you can't using any japanese texts. also if you Alpha Supporters, can't upgrading to Japanese ARMA3"

it mean current japanese ARMA3 supporters and fans is Abandoned from Japanese publisher and BIS ... :dead:

When heard "ARMA 3 goes to steamworks". I was afraid it first...

(sometimes japanese gamers get a terrible disadvantage from steamworks. it made by japanese publisher and developers)

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that.

Steamworks has not be officially confirmed at this stage (as far as I know), so I would wait it out and see what happens - there might be no steamworks and thus no problem. The language patch is indeed a problem - some of us had a similar experience when the german publishers of arma 2 refused to let us have a language patch. I take it steam isn't big over there on the sunrise island?

Also: Are there any japanese arma sites? I know next to nothing about your community and I would like to learn more.

Japanese aren't have ARMA community sites.

they mainly using 2ch.net(it similar to text 4chan forums)

it ARMA3 japanese official(in development)

http://arma3.zoo.co.jp/

http://gamezone.zoo.co.jp/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=922

in steamworks, can't allowing having same games on one account.

if Japanese Arma 3 Alpha Supporters think using japanese text. they must need to buy another "japanese" package, also must need to create new steam accounts...

It is very ridiculous... and terrible...

I want to say f-words and put a curse to BIS and japanese publishers...

Hi, perhaps there is some hope for you:

Among others, designer Jiří Zlatohlávek has been working hard on cleaning the database and finding unlocalized texts, while Vladimír Hynek has started to prepare the font for languages such as Russian and Japanese with their character sets.

no, probably it's only contain font files.

That is what has been provided for compatibility probably.

(when multiplay between other languages, you can't display messages from their client without fonts)

There is the possibility of making a translator addon, like some smart dudes did for the german-only version of A2. It wasn't perfect, but it worked pretty well.

Also I don't think this problem can be blamed on BIS, it is most likely the publisher calling the shots, since BIS has nothing to gain from cutting language support for you guys (other than not having to do the actual translating, of course).

ok, we can make translator addons. but it very difficult way.

and i think this problem can be blamed on BIS, This terrible distribution agreement was made between the publisher and they.

They should know all.

and say again:

Wait what? Unlike Arma 2 Arma 3 will have to run, install and update through steam. A Japanese publisher can´t simply slap japanese text on their version. My guess is that the game language will be chossen based on your steam language setting. Regardless if you play in Japan or Europe.

no, they can restrict language using in game.

steam have two language setting, one is steam own setting. it uses for steam UI.

other is game own setting, it can restrict language each package.

Sounds like the publisher is just saying that the language isn't available yet. Or is it that you can't type Japanese letters? Can't really say from these posts. But if...

How is it even possible to restrict what language you use in game if the language is available for others? Is it possible just get language.pbo from a guy that has the Japanese language or is it that simple  Ok that way might be "illegal" but restricting out your own language from the game even when it'll available is so shitty move from the publisher.

Just to clear up any confusion, the Japanese (and Korean) localized versions of Arma 3 will only be available through sales operated by our Japanese/Korean distributor (note: both versions will still be Steam-powered). The reason for why these languages are not available outside these territories is because we do/will not own the rights to those localizations (it's 'property' of the distributors).

Exact information about which other localizations will be available in Arma 3, will be announced at a later date (once all agreements have been finalized).

So the actual legal agreements are not finalized and that's why the current state is the way that it is?

Thank you for reply.

but that bring terrible disadvantage to japanese/Korean supporters. they can't using their own language...

They are just to help ARMA3. There is no sin in them.

That's why it is bad deal.

Is it possible that you guys will get the distribution right of localizations in the future?

I think BIS must get distribution right of localizations. It is the responsibility that BIS have selected the steamworks.

We were able to buy another package unless steamworks.

and I made a prediction a warning to you guys. But it ignored and bad things occurred.

say again, BIS must need to address this issue.

btw, I am talking about "X3: Albion Prelude" in these posts.

that game have same japanese distributor of ARMA3. zoo.co.jp.

that game also Japanese is not included in the package. and you need to buy japanese package.

but EGOSOFT(developer of X3) to get distribution right of localizations after. and japanese localizations was delivered to existing users.

To address this problem(The disadvantage to existing user). see this news.

http://store.steampowered.com/news/10055/

to BIS, I hope that you guys make the right decision.

Current status was none other than the truncation of the ARMA series lovers of Japan/Korean.

new package is mainly for the new users.

Bohemia Interactive needs to release a Language Changer, so this doesn't happen again to our foreign friends. I hate it for you :(
