scrim 1 Posted April 25, 2013 lol, yeah let's do count every single attack by insurgents defending their country from foreign invaders as terrorism. And then throw in every killing in every regional, separatist, ethnic and civil war or insurgency where the participants have beards longer than 2 cm. Then they're religious enough to make it terrorism. And then we'll start counting the violent attacks carried out by Western countries that qualify as state terrorism and we'll see who can do the best math. Some critical thinking if you please. Uh yeah, AQI (al Qeada in Iraq) was totally a nationalist terro... sorry, insurgency. Let's ignore the fact that the actual nationalist insurgency was pretty much dead in the water when the first battle of Fallujah was over, and the majority of it sided with the Coalition forces during and after the Anbar Awakening, because they realised the Americans weren't half as bad as the guys who wanted to turn Iraq into the stepping board for an Islamist Afghanistan-esque takeover of pretty much the entire region. And yeah, "violent attacks carried out by the West"? Sorry, but drone strikes in Waziristan doesn't equal bombing women and children just because they belong to the "wrong" ethnic group, regardless of wether or not it's the majority of the country, or beating the men of a house to death because they talked to government troops when they searched their house. Terrorism is attempting to scare people into submission by means of violence. Drone strikes against militants (many of whom do those things) is not terrorism, it's legitimate military thing. Mattar_Tharkari 10 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) 1.62 billion adherents, show me a protest against Terrorist acts with 1000 or more people showing up.The estimated population of muslims in the USA is 7 million. Where are the crowds protesting? Don't try claiming the media are not showing them, cameras are everywhere, everyone and their dog has one. YOUTUBE.... nothing. One thing to remember is that more muslims are victims of terror than anyone else. Not just from terrorists but at the hands of family members in their day to day lives. No one protests because they know if you do, you end up dead. It could be a local extremist group or maybe a family member will decide you brought 'dishonour' or 'shame' on the family and kill you themselves? Check the records and you will see multiple incidents. e.g. Malala Yousafzai. If you look through the list of Islamic terror attacks you will notice Imams killed on the steps of their own Mosques for preaching peace or promoting an interpretation that contradicts someone else's view. There is no point in engaging in the discussion you are trying to promote. The world is stuck with a problem and people are going to continue to die for many years. No one can stop it, it will go on until muslims themselves realise that there is a better way of living and become more secular. The best thing to do is to calm down and just ignore them. Attacking the religion just makes the situation worse, someone may read what you write and decide going out and killing a Canadian is somehow justified? I'm not sure what you're trying to convey with this. Protests about the raising of bus fares have a far better turnouts then the ones I've seen against terrorism in the name of Islam and a good number of the crowd are white liberalswho always feel a need to wail about about how brown people are victims when they do bad things but if your white, your evil and it's all your fault, no excuse. Protesting against terrorism? To what end? :)
oxmox 73 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) One thing to remember is that more muslims are victims of terror than anyone else. Good that you mention this, muslims are actually the majority of victims . Some years ago I saw released statistics with numbers of civilians/none combatants killed by terrorists, maybe wikipedia has some data. The most number of terror attacks did arise in the years after 911/Iraq War. http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/surprising-study-on-terrorism-al-qaida-kills-eight-times-more-muslims-than-non-muslims-a-660619.html Edited April 26, 2013 by oxmox
