The Unsung Vietnam War Mod 2.5 Released

is it possible to have more informations about the different campaigns WIP?

about mine:

it will be as usual: about 10 missions, not very long but kinda realistic atmosphere.

different roles, like a FNG, a SOG operator and two pilots (chopper and plane).

you will have CAS or SAD missions and sometimes napalm bombing in which you'll just need to sit down and admire the fireworks.

what about yours guys?

I'm working on Operation Wayne Grey it'll gonna be 4 missions long. the operation took place in March 1969 in the area of the Plei Trap Valley. Awesome im so impressed with you mission editor geniuses! You are are what makes this game come alive! NOW, regarding vietnam missions, please dont forget to include Jimi Hendrix and CCR on helicopter rides! You cant have a vietnam mission without 60s music. It just wouldnt work. Watch the forrest gump vietnam scenes to see what I mean. Also I hope that the missions are realistic so that it WONT be our six man squad against 300 repsawning NVA! I have a few missions im working on too, but i have to brush up on my intro and outro skills before I release them. Also have to figure out how to lay markers and but briefing notes and so forth on the map, once I do that Im gold.

Friendly forces are company size . . . enemies are editor placed and spawned to keep the mission running even on a low end dual core. That's normally my rig for testing. If it runs on the dual core it'll run on more powerful Pc's even better. tested one mission briefly on my I7 and it's a blast.

Good to see so many people working on Nam missions.

Yup, and lets face it, vietnam is FAR more interesting than modern combat. The music, the jungle scenery, the enemy troops, the gear, the groove, the m60 machine gun, its just a fascinating war. Second only to WWII IMO.

My compaign will describe one tour of one infantery platoon in Vietnam :-) 9-10 missions it looks like. I hope ill find some more voice actors.

You guys really need to see the vietnam scene in forrest gump. Have ANY of you any idea what im talking about? It was short, but it really did capture an epic battle and scenery of Nam.

Official Unsung Campaign : Operation Copperhead

You are Captain Jack Campbell from the special forces southern highlands command bought in to take charge of Camp Oscar. Survive numerous VC attacks on the SF base and surrounding villages while you retrain the local CIDG forces and build relations with the local populous. Go on recon, rescue and support missions following a progressive original storyline. However, watch out for the hardened NVA forces also entering the AO they will try to oust you to take control of this strategic area as they move down from the north. It's up to you and a specialised team to turn the tide and keep your AO under US control.

I second this, hopefully they will only be arma 2 oa and unsung dependent! THis is great news, that camp gain sounded great!

Unsung runs just as good without ACE as it does with ACE IMO. With ACE, a little better, but not too noticeable. So that's why campaigns aren't always ACE dependent.

I don't even think addons like these are built around ACE with their SP anyway, as far as I know.

of course not, but mission maker can make their missions/campaigns ACE dependant.

so, I'm just asking for them not to do so with these incomng UNSUNG campaigns

one small annoying thigs though: the external view of planes and choppers is not good at all: sometimes it's too high, or too low, or too far.

external view of BIS vanilla choppers or plane is perfect, but on yours, it's really not - external view is almost unplayable...

When the view is too high or low you should be able fix that using the 8 and 2 keys on the number pad, as for the view being too far away I have never had a problem with that. Which plane/chopper do you think the view is too far away on?

No guarantee I will be able to fix any of the views as I am a texture guy but I will see what I can do.

all the US choppers.

the external default view is not well placed.

and yeah, I do use the numpad to correct it, but it's kind of annoying.

I mean, I really hope they'll make a hotfix so that we DO have the same external view as the vanilla BIS choppers.

ammo crate system completed yesterdaywith optional RH/vilas vietnam era weapons in parameters

dynamic trap system, animals and civs trialed successfully on cao bang

added ka-bar knife and bayonet and silencer system for unsung weapons

working on spawning system for friendly vehicles at the moment, priority is:

default BAF desert/ unsung/ US specop woodland/ PRACS

What is it?
Seems to be play with six especially tailored for Unsung.

Thanks Savage for sharing!

Basically by using this utility you get an Updater, Launcher and ServerBrowser specialized for Unsung.

Several elements and unrelated content are either removed or hidden.

It is a basic bootstrapper program that Installs Play withSIX and pre-requisites when missing,

and launches Play withSIX in lockdown mode on the desired mod.

If you like, you still have access to the full Play withSIX experience, simply by launching it instead of the bootstrapper.

Both the bootstrapper and the lockdown mode are still early versions and both will be much improved coming time.

Expect improvements and more variants popping up for more mods coming time :)

In regards to the HUD/Visor do you mean the reflex sight? If you do mean that, I'll quote Savage

Can't fix the reflex sights sorry we need mlods and I can't model so..
If I could model anything more than a cube I'd give it a go.

However I did fix the door on the side of the UH-1C to use the correct texture.
