This business of releasing 'HD upgrades' months after release is really rather tedious.

I know some people will go back and play the whole game over again just to 'experience' the upgrade, but I am not one of those people.

The story and immersion of W3 are excellent but the combat and movement are infuriatingly unintuitive and I wouldn't want to go through that again, regardless of how much better it may look.

**EDIT**

Apparently, 980 TI now ~$800USD and R390X ~$599.00, JFYI

This is how you make secondary quests in sandbox games, not this "kill 10 bugs, gather 20 rat dung" mmo filler crap quests to fill 90% of your sandbox world(DA:I,Skyrim and others).Great game so far,I have high hopes for Cyberpunk 2077.

Witcher 3 is the perfect example that you can have open ended games with interesting quests too if you aren't lazy or simply braindead.

EDIT

Great review by RPS folks:

Really love the game and im not even out of the area around White Orchard yet.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the feeling of a place where a battle raged just a couple of days ago.

And quests feel different for now. Also they have improved the contract quests again as it seems.

However I wish my legendary swords were transfered from Witcher 2.

Recently there's been some butthurt moans heard from behind the Atlantic about lack of "racial diversity" in Witcher 3. First of all - the Witcher universe by Andrzej Sapkowski (the author and creator of Witcher) is based on Slavic mythology, Polish folk stories and bit of medieval tales from middle age Kingdom of Poland. Simply there were no black people back then - there was no shaming socialism obstructing the common sense and historical facts.

This is so much bullshit. Go back in time to medieval europe, how many black people will you find? Pretty damn close to zero.

It just wouldn´t make any sense to have black people in that game, period.

I can´t stand people who cry you a river and call racism just because they feel underrepresented in a medium. This only leads to token characters and checkbox design, something I absolutelly hate.

"Our movie needs to have at least one black guy in the main cast to make it more popular with black people. Got one, check"

"Our RPG needs to have a few romance options so you get to nail one before the big finale. Got one, check"

"Our RPG needs to have a LGBT romance option so that noone can call us homophobic. Got one, check"

etc.

Just look at Bioware RPGS, there it´s painfully obvious. Dragon Age, Mass effect, both series have the same awkward approach to sex just before the finale with basically zero emotional buildup, and somewhere during the game you will be presented with a LGBT dialogue option that is done so damn awkwardly and just doesn´t fit in, but the devs had to do it because of the checklist. Stuff like that ruins the immersion.

Would a token black guy in Witcher 3 made the game better? No, it would have lowered immersion.

Would a token black guy made black people enjoy the game more? No. Black people understand much better than white people what a token character is and don´t really like that.

Nobody would complain if a movie about living in central Africa didn´t feature any white people.

Well there IS racial diversity, we have humans, elves, dwarves and so on :D

And we have full blown racism in the northern kingdoms (not so much in Nilfgaard, instead they hate mages) and I like it.

Witcher and Gothic are both my favorite RPGs for its dark and gritty atmosphere.

These games actually feel like a dark medieval world, not just some artificial setting with clearly distinguished Good and Evil with knights in shiny armor running around proclaiming tolerance everywhere.

But yeah all big companies have to jump on the equality train to avoid getting sued by social justice warriors, good thing we have those smaller independent companies who dont give a damn.

As with all these 'social issues' no one in the real world cares. It probably extends to some tumbler and twitter posts, which are only read by people who like to complain about SJWs.

EDIT: Btw, my initial reaction to the game seemed a bit negative, and i still dont really like the graphics (very fuzzy starting at close-middle distance, and there arent any 'far away' distances because the drawdistance is rather short, but i already sunk over 50 hours into it, so i do really like it.

EDIT2: Btw, i thought that the Nilfgaardians were supposed to vaguely represent something middle-eastern, with them coming from the south, their style, sun as a logo, and being ruled by an 'Emhyr'. Though i guess they are as white as everyone else, not that i give a shit about that.

By the way The witcher 3 has sold 4 million copies in only two weeks.

CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski:

4 million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we'll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you're telling us Wild Hunt already is!

Until then, keep on enjoying Wild Hunt, do not forget to grab your weekly set of free DLCs, and stay tuned for constant updates and enhancement to the game we are continuously working on.

Yeah, obviously they did a lot of things right. It helps to make a really good game and have a very healthy developer-customer relationship.

So he actually kinda liked a Witcher game. Nice.

To be fair, the game is really, really good. Hard not to like it I would imagine.

BTW there is a quest that is a really cheesy advert for DRM free games and gog.com^^
