Arma 3 extended weapons and units list taken from the Alpha

BIS have okayed "unlocking" units that weren't available in the Alpha so I went digging for any references to units we haven't seen before. The texHeaders file in every pbo lists all the folder paths for each unit.

Keep in mind this list isn't from the final game (no V-22 reference in the files). Some of it may be leftovers from previous versions (I saw ToH references in there). Many use their fictional Arma names. Some use both fictional and real names leading to possible duplicate entries. I may have missed some units.

I think they should allow you to swap the barrels of the MX rifle (just the military designation it seems of the ACR/Masada rifle) like in real life. I want to use it with 5.56.

Other than that, looking forward for mods to bring my my ar15 family of weapons =D.

I think that was confirmed back in the ARG before A3 was announced.

Most are listed and were obtained from preview media. The list up top is from unit names left in the Alpha files and is more complete (like the new shotguns).

I can upload the bin files for each group as they're only a few hundred kilobytes if other people want to go through them.

Cheers for the list. I'm gonna wait to see them in-game before I add them to the list though. The Galkin for example is the Ifrit. Just need to be sure :)

BTW, what did you use to open the .bin's ? Unrap?

The MX is -not- an ACR. It´s a completely proprietary design using a gas based but in details unknown action, shooting caseless ammunition. The Company who designed it is CmmG, as far as we know, and as evidenced by the CmmG logo on the rifle.

I am surprised to see so many legacy references there, such as the Kamaz, Vodnik, BTR-90 or AK-107 and Pandur... maybe these are actually just leftovers/placeholders and intended to be either removed or replaced at a later date?

And are these just references, or are these actually linking to locked content that is positively in the alpha but not accessible yet?

No Armor apart from the trucks unlocked at this stage officially, and I don´t think they left anything hidden, afaik. All that´s mentioned in this thread appear to be entries in the .bin files?

then yes, the names for each unit's folder seems to be the same format as class names.

Open them with Wordpad to get junk characters and the folder names.

The characters file lists all the clothes you can wear but it didn't interest me so I didn't note them down. Those files also list the weapons used by each vehicle and the faction they belong to.

I don't think so. There's a certain size limit for movable objects in the game.

i think it'll be like the aircraft carrier in arma 2. you could "take off" from it in an sdv. but maybe bis can surprise us and we will be able to walk around inside the submarine, enter the dry dock shelter to board the sdv.

I think that was confirmed back in the ARG before A3 was announced.

what is this list about ? they want release these vehicles and weapon to alpha ? it should be great...

To date a list of weapons and vehicles mentioned in the PBOs' texHeaders files.

As for the Astute-class talk, from what I recall the "hard limit" for a single model's length in Arma 2 is ~60 meters; RKSL-Rock mentioned the limit in discussing the Ambassador III-class missile boat ("Its slightly over 60m long which makes it - just about - into the absolute maximum ArmA2 geometry envelope. This means it can be a single model and wont need any funky scripting to get it working ingame") but the Astute-class is ~97 meters in length (looking at its Wikipedia entry).
