DucksGoQuack 1 Posted March 16, 2013 Arma 2 mystifies me. For some reason, I can't START a new campaign. (Armory, boot camp, and scenarios work fine, though). Also, when in boot camp, there is no LOAD or QUIT option available. What does 'Suspend' do? The game "helpfully" informs me that it is saving, then it goes right back to whatever I was doing before. Am I missing something? Finally, whenever I quit (by using crl-alt-del, right click, end program), and come back, all of my graphics, keyboard, and game play preferences are RESET. Can anyone help? Thanks, Ducks [i installed Arma 2 via Steam, so I'm assuming everything is updated correctly. ]
ast65 10 Posted March 16, 2013 did you check if maybe your ArmA2 folder under 'documents' is set to 'read only'? if so, uncheck
DucksGoQuack 1 Posted March 17, 2013 Yah, I tried doing that, but I can't get the 'read only' check box to stay unchecked. Whenever I apply that change, if I look again at the properties of the Amra 2 folder (to make sure it worked), it will always go back to 'read only'. The games still won't Start, Load, or Quit. ProfTournesol 952 Posted March 17, 2013 Do you run the game as administrator ? You may want to have a look here : http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?89928-arma2-does-not-save-keyboard-control-changes
DucksGoQuack 1 Posted March 17, 2013 Ah-hah! It wasn't an administrator problem, but the forum you sent me too had the same issue as me. I am using a network/roaming/ domain, so the files weren't saving. correctly. I fixed it by opening a command line and running: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 33900 -profiles=C:\games\ArmAProfiles\ And then all* my problems went away. *A few things: 1. I have to run arma2 via the cmd line every time if I want to save my setting or play the campaign. 2. Just having a local /non-roaming domain would fix this. 3. The developers really should have accounted for this setup, or at least warned users not to use a domain.
