Arma 2 and OA Connection issue

In honor of arma 3 me and a friend decided to play arma 2 again. when we tried to create multiplayer server we could not connect to eachother. after doing some research we tried using hamatchi, it works but it lags alot for us. we can still join other peoples servers. we are both using windows 7 64bit and are using steam versions. and we have all dlc (acr pmc bar)

some other sollutions ive tried include:

opening ports 2302-2305

updating network drivers

switching routers entirely

opening NAT

running steam and arma in administrator mode

reinstalling and verifying the game cache

excuse my bad english

any help would be appreciated
