Hello everyone!

I'd like to introduce my work in progress thread for the UKAF from A3. Obviously being set in the future, I'd like to make this about current kit/ kit coming into service in the near future. I'd like to briefly outline my plan with this mod, and then post WIP and other goodies!

This is a range of kit I am hoping to include into the mod;

  • Headgear
    • Mk7
    • Para helmet

    [*]Vest

    • Osprey Assault body armour
    • Jump-able Plate carrier
    • Modular belt-kit/webbing (maybe one over of a plate carrier?)

    [*]Goggles/NVGs

    • HMNVS

    [*]Attachments/Optics

    • ELCAN Specter
    • ACOG 6x magnification (mounted on the L129A1)
    • VIPIR-2
    • Susat(for old times sake!)

    [*]Uniform

    • PCS

    [*]Backpacks

[banter]

Issue black tape shouldn't be hard to model on, long hair and no helmets = SF

I don't know what to say about Royal that wont get me another infraction :)

[/banter]

But everything the BRF dudes are doing is as modern as it gets and confirmed future gear for example the waggons that have had there service life extended etc etc

No bug eyed warriors from mars i'm afraid.

Looking good but i think the rim shouldnt be as dominate and maybe lessen out the side curvature to the side. I know the NP Aero one looks that way but after they have added the NBC boot and all the other jazzy kit to it , it looks alot smoother. Also maybe make him look more like a mushroom , thicken it out a little like this ( http://img23.exs.cx/img23/4278/451117087kb.jpg ). Just me being picky looking really good tho , cant wait to play with all these bits in game! :yay:

That could be the Six Alpha. Pretty much of all the jump trained 16aab fellas did it back in 08 so they could still look like "ally" airborne warriors.

Even thou the chinstrap would break your nose when you got blown up :\

HK416

Using a little of the sample models and ingenuity I've made a little HK416, moved the barrel so its a little longer now, just got the config and a couple of fresh textures and its done! (ARMA 3)

L110A3 - Light machine gun as used by UKSF forces currently a work in progress but I think it will look pretty decent once we finish it.

Just a quick update regarding the PCS uniform, still got a few weeks to do to make it look right with the lighting, but good progress so far.

Question, the helmet on the last picture, is that the Cobra helmet ?? im not sure its the real name of the helmet, but in denmark we have this new helmet i link to, and it looks like it a little bit :)

Dennis

Dennis,

You are almost right! A couple of years back the UK developed a new helmet. It was part of the PECOC project and was a new shape. It had a HALO mounting system that had Ops Core rails on the side and a universal front mount to which you could fit a mandible guard and visor. On the back it had a battery mount for the NVGs. The system was developed by Revision from Canada/US. The 'NATO helmet' in Arma3 has the HALO (the shell shape looks a bit different).

The HALO system went through several design changes and advancements and one variation is the current Revision Military front mount. It looks just like the front mount in Arma3 and is fitted as standard to the Revision Military high performance Cobra PE helmet (it can also be fitted to US helmets plus some others in development). You are correct in saying that Denmark now uses this system as its standard helmet and its in Afghanistan now. Good luck to the guys and girls out there now, safe returns.

Cheers

Right Standby for some geekyness.

when I was on Ops we used to work with the SFSG and THEM and I took a mental note of the equipment that the sneaky beaky warriors were using and decided to try and replicate there dress and attire.

And today i was just cutting and snipping tailoring the bits and bobs too the example model to make sure i had the correct scale on some of the bits and bobs I got a bit of a chub on.

Interesting work. I see you're basing the model off of the bare arma3 sample model... if I might recommend maybe making the vest and gear a bit loose? Because when you add the camo clothing to the soldier there may be some clipping issues with the gear..

Yeah yeah I err only put it on there to sort out my horrendus attempt at making the side straps for the plate they were orginally like wings so i just used the body to contour the straps with about 2 inche's (in editor) to allow for clothing underneith.

It was mostly just so I could see if the plate and PLCE weren't too big.
