.psd templates [NATO]

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

as it seems the most addons we'll be seeing now will be retextures. I myself am, just for fun, working on something that'd look Polish, based on a Wz.93 woodland pattern 'Pantera'.

Scarecrow398 has been extremly helpful and generous with his time and skill to help me make these standalone, so most probably I'll be publishing it sometime soon in the 'discussion' section. That's what I got so far (tested on ITA SOF, as it supports headgear).

Anyway; long story short - what's on the pics above you'll find below as .psd files.

It's not perfect as it was a quicky just for fun and most probably there'll be another, better template-sets popping up soon enough, but maybe someone makes use of it to produce his/her own stuff a lot faster, just by replacing the woodland layer with a desired camo pattern.

Package includes 4 .psd files, which should be enough for simple retextures. There's not much layers there and you should find your way pretty easily.

armor1_co.psd

clothing1_co.psd

equip1_co.psd

vests_rgr_co.psd

I should probably just add, from recent experience, that the shoulder area of the models stretches insanely... Attempting to put a national flag patch were it supposed to be in RL, on the pocket, may have awful effects...

Hence my choice to put on the plate carrier, at least it won't get distorted there.

And another thing for anyone who did not look at the A3 textures yet; there's UV for one arm only, so anything written you put on there will end up being mirorred. Beware.

Topas over & out ;)

But i'd like to know, if you can help me, how to open a .paa file... Because I can open (with texview2) .paa that I genera, but I can't open those from the game or from others mods... So I can't work on other textures :(

If you go to this website - http://www.kegetys.fi/arma/ - and download the 'ArmA tools' inside there is a plugin for cs called .paa plugin, this will allow you to open paa files in photoshop. However bear in mind this is a very old plug in and you cannot save it, as it doesn't format properly! You must save it at as a .tga, and convert it with texview 2!

@Soronelite

Just as Davids has pointed out, the Kegety's plugin is already old.

I for myself have no trouble using it with my old copy of CS2 (absolutely sufficent for ArmA modding purposes), but it has been confirmed that troubles using it started with CS4 already:

http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&id=95269

On a sidenote; no need to thank - it's the least I could do. I'm not good at explaining things and do my stuff mostly by intuiton, with no rules restricting creativity, so you probably won't see any tutorials from me anytime soon... Maybe it's not the most pedagogical approach to give the man a fish instead of fishing rod, but even with the fish alone you still can make wonders and new dishes, isn't it? ;))

Thank you very much very good, but I think armor1_co.psd checks missing a layer and equals vests_rgr_co.psd

and how to create units with three or four different camos.

Thanks for pointing this out FALBronco. I will check this once home today (in 12hrs) and report back.

I was told that the armor1_co texture is not used by the models anyway, but in case it is, I will correct this and reupload.

As for your variety question - it all comes down to the configuration file. Someone smarter that me in this area (lots of people here are) will probably know.

PS: I believe the Italian SOF units have been released along with an example .cfg file to learn from.
