Dom 1 Posted March 9, 2013 Out of pure curiosity, I am wondering how the beta and full versions of Arma 3 will be released. Will the Arma 3 alpha in steam automatically change to beta when it is time, or will the alpha get discarded and will we be required to re-download files for the beta? I think it would be sensible to keep the files that already exist is our steam folders, and then release the beta and full versions, respectively, as patches. What does everyone else think? nimrod123 11 Posted March 9, 2013 the normal policy for beta to retail (at least the several i have done) is a full re download, as alot of the files are recompiled for efficiency and the sercurity features are added in the alpha to beta shouldn't require a full download, as its more a change of testing focus then anything else
DnA 5154 Posted March 9, 2013 We cannot entirely guarantee it now, but it should be a smooth transition from Alpha (without full re-download). So on the day we launch Beta, your Arma 3 will just delta-patch in the new content. The same should apply to the full game, but the content buff is much bigger there (e.g. Altis island). As nimrod123 pointed out, we may at any stage be forced to repackage a lot, if not all, content, which would require larger updates.
