Arma 3 Alpha crashing with Radeons

Recommended Posts

I have no issues at all with any AMD/ATI card I test with.

4890,4870x2(x2), 5870,6970, and 7970@1300/1800.... Not one issue, even did multiple CFs...

And when I get ,my lightning 290x Ill test that. There is something else going on with your Kit?

Update:

A lot of crashs with last version of Arma3 and last version of Catalyst, the 14.1.

Now, with FSAA or without FSAA, the PC crashes using R9 290X or HD7970.

I'm crazy with this bug. I'm not playing more Arma3.

Help Bohemia, please. =( =( =( =(

Ps. I dont have problem with nv cards.

I have HD7870. Yes, I've run the game on Ultra settings (MP and SP), no crashes. Usually just stick to High and 2xAA.

Only time I crashed Arma 3 was when I had unstable overclock.

thanks, but no overclock here, only default clock on CPU or GPU.

running a 7970 just fine in each rig without any problems, all max and 1150/1700mhz no problem, no corruption no nothing.

even your mentioned settings.

13.12whql or 14.1beta all just fine

using win 8.1 64bit and writing this in a short break bewarfare with dedi and client on one machine(45fps on each)

other than taht its not bohemias fault that some amd(and some nvidia) card perform bad/crash/etc, it is the fault of amd. since the change from vliw4 to gcn the drivers of new cards are getting worse.every new version of the tahiti xt(xt,xtd,xt2) had some problems when freshly released, so i would understand if the 290/x cards have some problems now too.

I dont have problem with no other game (I have 50 installed) , ONLY ARMA3. Fault is from Bohemia, failing to otimize correctly the game for AMD.

Best Regards.

I never had any crash with A3 either (HD5870 ATM). A3 is pushing your computer to its limits, contrary to other games, so a little failure somewhere will lead to a crash. I had problems with my ram that no test nor benchmark ever detected (even memtest), only BIS games did :)

Thanks, but no problem with RAM, I tested each module singly. 5870 is old generation, the vliw.

Did the same, no errors. Then, fed up with the crashes, i changed all the ram (quite cheap at that time), no more crash. I don't say it's your problem though, just my 2 cents.

Well, i never had ArmA3 crash on my 7870 unless i did something weird on purpose, and then it would not be GPU related. If it has been like this since the Alpha your card may be slightly borked. In any case it is not 'With Radeons' as the topic title says.

I disagree, I don´t have problem with no other game, only ARMA3. I have 50+ games installed, no problems. Can you explain me?

No such problems here with 6950, 6970, 2x 6970 in Crossfire (all Sapphire), R9 290X, or 2x R9 290X in Crossfire (MSI). Full ultra on the dual 290X setup.

well here we go, No crashes with my 7970,( or 4890, 4870X2,7750).... Looks like posters with a AMD /Radeon have no issues of crashing , the the OP has. Radeon wins!!!!

Delta, I still get the same problem you do periodically. I actually think it is a problem with the drivers, not specifically with Arma3, just Arma3 is CALLING on that problem a lot. I have had it happen to me in World of tanks and a couple of other games very very rarely.

Ive stopped playing ARMA 3 because I just cant justify the potential damage to my video card and computer from what ever this problem is truly caused by.

I RMA'd my card and it was "repaired" (NFI what they fixed), and it was better (to be fair), but still didnt fix the problem. IMHO its either a driver or design fault on the card. Otherwise I have been really happy with my R9 280X, just ARMA 3 and it dont play well :(

Now, I'm testing a 7970 using a downclock to 900 mhz.

No crashs more by 8 hours. News, I post here.

Just finished a nice 3.5 hour session in a custom mission with around 30 guys...

Crashed in the helecoptor after mission complete, with the same screen freeze. Remained on TS talking to them for 5 mins talking to them whilst screen locked. Latest catalyst beta drivers.

Not sure whats going on

Hi mestoth,

Do you need to do a test, Play the game with the card downclocked a bit. Here, my clock stock is 1 GHz, but I'm running ARMA3 with 900 MHz. No problems at the moment. Latest catalyst beta driver too.

Best regards

no crashes at all with a R9 290 overclocked but custom cooling, driver version 13.12, win7-64bit.

Ill have a bit more of a play with it. annoying if i have to down clock but such is life :O

edit1: Ironically, I played with the tweak settingsa bit and found a "gaming overclock profile" built into the ASUS GPU tweak. it overclocks it by ~ 40mhz more from the stock overclock..Now rock steady in Arma3... WTF
