Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Recommended Posts

Hello, so I also have an issue with ArmA 3 and its only in multiplayer...

(It's not a RAM issue)

This is more a mission problem + engine limitation, your best chance for help is to ask in the mission thread.

You could try:

Get the owner of the server you play on to use the performance server binaries.

Get the mission maker to optimise his scripts.

So wouldn't then everyone have the same FPS??

Everyone has terrible performance under certain conditions, yeah.

I dont know how many of you are overclocking. I have searched countless hours of overclocking specs, setups, etc. Most of them say put the H/T link and NB at 2000mhz. I had set mine at those values. The motherboard defaulted to 2200/2000. Only until I realized the stock values for my chipset were 2600mhz, I went from 21fps to 40fps from that alone.

Main menu;

Max frames on 2000mhz were about 90

Max frames on 2600mhz were 270.

Running 1866mhz memory.

At least in Multiplayer it didn't helped me, my framerate was the same.

Hey guys,

i got only 22-30fps in singleplayer. Added alredy cpu count and edited the Arma3.cfg GPU_MaxFramesAhead to 1. But without more fps :/

My system:

GPU: GeForce GTX 780Ti

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @3.30 ghz

8 GB ram

Got win 7 64 bit.

Is it normal with that system or can i tweak some more fps out? would be cool to have at least 40-50 fps. When i'm @ the graphic options then there is 75 fps^^.

If you are in the graphic options in SP the game will pause, so there is nothing new to calculate.

Does the game eally use all of your 4 cores? You should check the affinity in the taskmanager.

I have at least 35 FPS in a mission with a bunch of AI with my FX 8320, but you should have a better performance because Intel performs about 160% better per core.

A3 the only game where 30FPS seems like 10FPS...

GPU@60%avrg.

CPU@60%avrg.

In-Game FPS 40FPS avrg.

WTH??

unoptimized engine and it will never be smooth!

People are confusing problems again, we have this issue every 10~ pages.

Low FPS in single player is a different issue to low FPS in multiplayer.

Improving your computers hardware will not help low FPS in multiplayer but WILL help to some extent in single player.

It would really help everyone to give as much information regarding your low FPS, mission, sp/mp, players in server, server hardware, number of AI, etc.

A bit of a random suggestion but please try it.

Disable vsync if it is enabled. It uses a buffer which when it drops below 60fps it caps it low.

I was stuck at <30 when I disabled vs it ramped up to 50's. Then I lowered some settings now I see a solid daytime 60fps.

Also post your specs there may be a hardware specific thing I can suggest.

So this game doesn't support triple buffering? That's a Direct X thing.

I think your mistaken the problem with this game engine is that

1) It only uses 2 or 3 cores of the CPU and this is a very CPU intensive game.

2)Its not 64 bit.....

triple buffering is supported, I remember a post by Dwarden saying so, it may require a flag to be set in the config file.

tripleBuffering=1;

Found in: "Your systemroot":\Users\"username"\Documents\Arma 3\Arma3.cfg

on Win 7.

the engine don't use old system of dualbuffering ... it uses alternate buffering approach ... triplebuffering is only for those who experience issue where it for w/e reason acts like dualbuffering ...

I really need help ASAP. Just bought ARMA 3 and SUPER LOW FPS!!!!!!!

I bought it to play Altis Life multiplayer and joined 2 different servers with 50 pings and 50-60 players.

Average FPS: 5-10

My Ingame settings are all at MINIMUM! All Low/Disabled!!!

My Arma3.Cfg:

I can't go over 10 fps omfg

My setup:

i3 in combination with Radeon 7770 were budget parts 2 years ago and might have worked playing 2 year old games. Barely.

http://www.hardwarereview.net/Reviews/ATI%20Radeon%207770/AMD_Radeon_HD7770.htm

You would be better off with an Intel i5 or i7 (heard Arma 3 likes i7s) and a better graphics card.

Arma 3 is CPU-dependant so top of the line GPU wont do much difference.

I also had a dualcore AMD Athlon running 3.2 ghz and radeon 4850 (upgraded to 7870 but that made very little difference). 5-10 FPS in Arma 3.

I then bought new RAM (1600 Mhz CL9), AMD FX-8350 and new motherboard. And still use the radeon 7870. I get 20-40 FPS in multiplayer, maybe 60 FPS in SP. This is at high/very high settings.

To give you an idea.

lol

yet I can play Guild Wars 2 on normal settings on WvW where there are 100+ players on amssive battles with 40+ fps.

I also play DayZ SA on normal settings and get 40+ fps yet everything on low in Arma 3 I get 5-10?

Rather call it an unoptimized game

Try playing another server, with fewer players or another mission.

The server could be bad, the host could be bad, the other players could be causing lag somehow or the mission could be poorly scripted causing lag etc. etc. etc.
