Ups and downs with Bohemia

Recommended Posts

Dunno what all the complaints are about? I heard it was steam exclusive, so bought it on steam, downloaded in minutes - all worked 1st time. Hosted an MP mission, made a map in the editor, lots of fun, a really cool 1st evening.
The whole issue is over attempting to purchase Steam keys through the BI Store as opposed to buying through Steam -- for which (for Digital Deluxe and regular) the BI Store was cheaper... when they were still available on the BI Store at all. :( Whereas buying from Steam cost more but bypassed the whole issue since you were receiving your keys/getting-the-game-attached through Steam directly; the Steam servers were to my knowledge never the culprit throughout this whole mess.

Cutting out the middleman... except this time, the middleman was BI. :p

the whole issue was that the store was overloaded as the short-term visit load was too high

now majority of these who had issues was resolved, keys were resent , if you still have issues contact support @ bistudio d,o,t, com

if you bought by BI store then you know we got more % than STEAM and helped support us ...

so yes we are sorry for the yesterdays BI store issues (article was on BI website and twitters or asked me on Skype / IRC / IM you knew)

I hate to be the one to say it, but

So it's on at ~ 2PM CET. Good. I come home from work at 5PM and comfortably purchase it because till then everybody else did.

Oh...wait...

I bet BI store will be down in minutes. :o

I told you so.:p

Seriously, what's the big deal. Yes, I wanted to buy (not supporters edition) and play the game yesterday (march 5th), badly.

So, I tried to purchase from work at ~2PM, no luck. Oh well, I'll do it when I get home from work, I thought.

Tried it at 5PM. No luck. Ok, I went to a friend to help him set up connection from his PC to new TV he bought. We talked about football, computers, had two plum brandys.

I returned home at 8PM, tried to purchase it. Nope, no way. I watched Dirty jobs instead.

By that time it was available on Steam. I thought, feck that, I want to buy from BI, I'll do it tomorrow.

So I bought it today (march 6th), and when I get home from work I'll dowload it and play. 1 day later. Big deal.

Having said that, I understand why you were a little upset, granQ. :)

I have the Support Edition. But i also got Deluxe Edition already activated on Steam because of last night, and me wanting to finally play ArmA 3 after years of waiting :)

So i guess i'll donate the money i saved on buying Deluxe Edition to some modders when i get the refund :) So that both you and the modders will get some love!

stop using smartphones as servers please ! get some real stuff .... lol ...

BI Servers obviously will not have the same horse power as Steam. Steam buy and download just went as flawless as on any other day. BI Servers on their knees was predictable. So where was the problem? Welcome to the Internet.

As for the thread topic: I was kinda offended by the name "supporter edition" exactly because it appeals to your conscience and says if you choose other packages, you do not support BI. but also I'm sure they didn't mean it like this. They probably lazily took that term from the crowd funding system and didn't think about it further.

People are so angry these days...

You pay the game for half the full price, it should be enough to cover your face with a big smile.

Yes, but you forget that a vocal minority in this "community" has grown a massive sense of self-entitlement.

If they dont get it now, BI sucks.

If the game doesnt include (or support) their entire back-catalog of content, BI sucks.

If modding the game isnt as easy as 1, 2, 3, click, BI sucks.

etc etc.

There is no pleasing some people...

Wanted to buy supporter pack and compete for place in credits )

But after several attempts got:

"You have exceeded maximum number of orders per account or IP. If you want to make more purchases pleas contact support@..."

not good, kinda ridiculous, frustrating.

Going to purchase from Steam, and for sure recommend to friends.

Hope DLC will be worth to buy,

good luck Bohemia!

Kind of thought the supporter option was more about supporting Bohemia Interactive, than supporting oneself.

Exactly, who cares about having your name in credits?

I've been playing since the ofp demo days too. I was upset yesterday when I didn't get my copy, but I finally got it 8 hours later.

Who cares about credits.

We're getting an awesome game and you can't dispute that.

I for one am happy. Don't get too caught up and just play.

I felt so sad after reading the OP then I realised I don't give a shit how long you have been supporting BI for... Jesus Christ why do you think people will care how sad you are about some stupid credits that no one will look at?

If people want to get their name in the credits I don't think it's really fair to have a go at them, I've worked for Bohemia since 2004 and they missed my name out of a game once and I was sad for weeks! ;)

don't worry placebo, your name stuck so tight, it's almost like not BIS forums/BIF, it's the forum where lives a "..." creature - the Placebo :)

cheers!

You have been in my show too, so what's the problem ? ;)

About game-credits: im sure BI will work something out.

IMHO : credits are earned, not bought. In a casino, that is where you buy credits.

But when you create something : that's when you earn credits

And the store-debacle : Well......

From the day people knew the alpha would be here at march 5, everybody said: " the bistore will go down like every release" - Still people complain, even if they knew it beforehand.

Obviously that the"500 pcs" supporter edition was without a doubt, a problem that would stirr up some dust because of a) the credits issue - b) the capacaty problem.

But it's march 6 now, everybody has his fix i guess, so lets go forward.

Yeah, what is with Forum members (usually ones who have been around for a while...and should know better) stigmatizing users wanting to have a forum badge or name in the credits. It was offered, they are entitled, if they want it, you don't have to care. Save your sour grapes for some where else.

And PS, they did earn it, they paid a whole lot more money to support BIS, that is their reward....it doesnt matter if they have never played Arma before today.

Jeez you people....

And no...I didn't buy the supporters edition, I got Digital, Deluxe. I'm just not a bitter old git. :D

Even Stevie Wonder could see problems arising on first day of Alpha release. Pleased i waited.

I am with the majority, give credit to the community members who deserve it.

"... downloading the OFP demo on my old modem" huh huh ... there should be a 2nd set of credits in AA3 for folk who've been along for the long ride! (FWIW I have my OFP:DR CDs right here.)

Right attitude. +2.

Some people can find it fun to have their names mentioned in the game they like )

Credits might have subsection "Modders" and "True supporters" that comes before "Just paid money" names.
