Shown here in between the elite Osean Sorcerer F-15C and Wizard F-16C squadrons is Galm flight, leaving for their first combat operation from OADF Christopher A. Steele. Galm flight consists of rookie pilot Cipher in an F-16A "Viper" and his veteran mentor, Larry "Pixy" Foulke in his signature F-15A Eagle with a red wing, denoting a prior incident where he successfully returned his plane home without it. The use of mercenary pilots has been questioned by both sides, with Belkan pilots publicly proclaiming that whey will "handily outstrip these amateur airmen of fortune," and Osean pilots stating that "we are concerned about not only their combat ability also their willingness to abide by the laws of war. That said, we have yet to see them in action, so we'll hold judgement for now." Steele in their F-15A Eagles to support Operation Battleaxe, which will take place in Airspace B7R, commonly known as "The Round Table." The two have made a name for themselves as humane but fierce aces. "They fight like hell but they spare wounded planes that some of us would never let go" an Osean pilot said. "It’s funny to think we were doubting their morals only a few months ago." They’ve also become popular among Ustian aircrews for deferring aircraft and equipment upgrades to other Ustian squadrons; Cipher flew a nearly 15-year-old and very well-used F-16A up until a couple weeks ago, and he declined a brand-new F-15C for a spare A model, while Pixy has been flying the same F-15A for nearly 10 years and insists on keeping it. Combined with their status as registered private military contractors, this has earned them the nickname of "Flying Hedge Knights of Ustio." While some mercenary pilots have been denounced for violations of the Laws of Armed Conflict, it appears that the example of humanity set by Galm Team is rubbing off, as the rate of questionable incidents has dropped dramatically in recent weeks. Operation Battleaxe is a massive operation consisting of over 300 aircraft from numerous Osean, Ustian, Yuktobanian, and Sapinian squadrons, intended to secure the vitally important air corridor junction of B7R from the Belkan Air Force once and for all. B7R is considered to be of the highest importance by Allied planners, as it is a junction for no fewer than six air corridors and eight ground highways leading into the heart of Belkan territory, along with a wealth of natural resources. The very best aces from both sides are expected to battle it out in what many are anticipating to be the most important air battle of what has been called the Belkan War, and what is shaping up to be the largest air battle of all time. Galm Team is on reserve alert for this operation and took off an hour after nearly the entire air contingent at OADF Steele had already departed. Was a real pain to get it to look reasonable Trying to trick the system; if I sat the char on top of the F-15 in the forward half of the crew compartment, it would slide forwards slowly, except when it didn't. Unfortunately, even with splendid camera and a total time freeze, the char would STILL keep sliding, making getting a good photo impossible, and it was still positioned too high.
