Multiplayer ain't good

one day after finished the campaign of resistance

i deceide to try the new netcode online,

i launch the ingame browser and look at servers

not as many i was thinking confused.gif

i select one, correct ping 80 ms (the ping is false, in lan

with my brother we have 0 ms, that is impossible also in lan)

connection to server.................................

ok i am in, all people are green, i take my team for the CTF

and green me up, all people green? not start? ok we try

to vote for an admin, all vote admin X, hum... do nothing

this deciced server is knock out -> disconnect

found another but with luck it will vote disabled and KO too

i was true mad.gif -> disconnect

Ok now i find one working, 140 ms, green up and waiting for

the admin start... no people speak here?

i ask if somebody are here?, no sign of move...

maybe i have lost the connection -> disconnect

refresh server list... no the server isn't down, i retry to connect him

connection error, mad.gif what this???, retry, connection error???

refersh server list , now the server playing, damn mad.gif

1 hour later

find one server, with one admin, with a decent ping, and

a decent bandwith, playing the game great fun

2 hour later on another server

i was playing when i lose the connection, i can take flag,

but all thing are freeze, i run on the map shot a people, but

nothing happen, i m on the server, but totaly disynchronous...

BI PLZ IMPROVE THIS confused.gif

I had a good expirience with MP, 24 players, no significant lag and at the same time I was downloading Americas Army (~1.5h with DSL)!

What do we learn from this? Never ever try to play CTF in OFP.

My experience with the new 1.75 sockets netcode is good! Have yet to try any larger scale battles (i.e 24+ players) but our co-op tests with 4-6 players was all smooth and a great improvement over previous versions.

Have you checked you packet loss to the servers? This is more important than the actuall ping time and everything above 0.5-1% is a indication that something is wrong!

Would be great to hear others experince with the new 1.75 sockets netcode. Espescially if you tried any larger scale battles via Internet!

i'v played some nice games with 16+people running great. I'v ride along with 3 others in a hummer, not a single lag. But somethimes its a bit laggy wen some slower internet connections are in. (i'v got still a problem, i can't talk in the mp game, see topic mp for noobs).

What are you people talking about? MP runs beautiful...and yes CTF is very much playable biggrin.gif.

There are lots of factors that determine the playability of OFP in MP mode, but V1.75 and the socket implementation are vastly improved over earlier versions.

yes this is a very good multi-player game and some times shit happens isp problems bugs etc but you get this with all games

hold your breath and dive in we run a dedicated server most all the time but do too recent changes to game and up-grade the server it's been on and off alot it's up now biggrin.gif

Well, I think BIS did an outstanding job with this new netcode, because I never got that much fun in multiplayer as with Resistance  smile.gif  I often play with a squad I recently joined, and they have a dedicated server with a 64 k upload  cable internet connection wich he also shares with another pc, and we play with 12 players max, and there seems to be no lag at all..All missions on this server have loads of vehicles and stuff on them, and gameplay is great  tounge.gif  I don't think that this would be possible with the " old " V1.46 netcode . So for me the new V1.75 code is working just fine  biggrin.gif

With my dsl connection 256/128 i was the other day playing with 24 ppl in "German troopers" and i was shooting down the helos with my abrams from more than 750 meters...

If you don´t see there an improvement then you are blind...

Edit:I live in Spain and the ping was 130ms

In previous versions having more than 100 ms meant lag

Yes, the code is great, but all the good Maps (like EveronWar1.5A) have to be redone.

CWC-maps _will_ behave strange on O:R.
