ArmA 3: new ARG - Things we know so far.

Recommended Posts

indeed, i ll be hopping into these places and coordinates in the alpha for sure.

for the eventual divining/ searching, from the coordinates given and the memorial of the pilot, draw a circonference(i take it that the distance between the point and the memorial as radius) and search the area maybe

on sahraniradio i have a question, between some songs , there was a piece which said

'' Madness? this is S..'' ( something i didnt hear well tbh, but dont think it was ''sparta'')

New post on http://altis-quest.com/

Flight booked, arrival on Stratis: March 5

Today i purchased the airline-tickets, and booked the boattrip to Stratis.

I expect to arrive on Stratis on March 5 2012.

Furthermore i had a quick telephone call with Randall, who i’m going to meet near the Nikos Stavros monument.

Afterwards we’re going for a bite in restaurant ‘the Lighthouse’

If you are in the neighbourhood on wednesday, let’s meet up : Randall seems to have some information for us.

"Nikos Stavros monument" vs the real Nikolaos Sialmas monument. Probably BI trying to not use real names and offend someone.

And the year is wrong. ARG people we are in 2013 not 2012. Or is Tom Larkin absent minded? :)

Disregard message, info in photo is photoshopped.

From Aegean Airlines.

Venizelos airport is less than 15 min from me. So tempted to buy a ticket to check the passengers. :)

Card in photo is from Star Alliance, name T. Larkin, expiration date 9/14.

Do we know that for sure? It could be both.

So, let's make plans for the Alpha:

+ We need to check the 'Nikos Stavros' monument (presumably the Molon Lave thing) - 39.465742, 24.986343 ( https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=39.465742,+24.986343&hl=en&ll=39.465702,24.988961&spn=0.014727,0.033023&sll=39.465748,24.986566&sspn=0.001841,0.004128&t=h&z=16 )

+ We need to check the grids on the morse code - 39.46764,24.9833 ( https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=39.46764,24.9833&hl=en&sll=39.46764,24.9833&sspn=0.225018,0.528374&t=m&z=12 )

+ We need to check the local restaurant - most likely at the location of the phone number on the console - 39.540099,24.988142 ( https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=39.540099,24.988142&hl=en&ll=39.54005,24.989433&spn=0.007355,0.016512&sll=39.539988,24.98872&sspn=0.001839,0.004128&t=h&z=17 )

+ We need to go diving and search the wrecks for Nikos Stavros

So we've ascertained that Tom Larkin is probably a fictional character?

@Sakinz: That local restaurant has exact long/lat of 39.540099,24.988142 as I said in the post above yours :)

You're joking, right? Clearly he's fictional. He's a character from Take On Helicopters. And if you didn't know that, you'd know that Altis was a fake name and that Stratis is a fake name, and if you didn't know that, the website TELLS you on the About page.

Yes, I was joking :)

Do we think the "ETKT" number is important? 596287901578-1

Lat Long: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=59.6287,90.1578&hl=en&ll=59.620895,90.200844&spn=0.146887,0.528374&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=11.240914,33.815918&t=h&z=12 - middle of nowhere in Russia, looks a bit like a river delta;

or https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=5.96287,9.01578&hl=en&ll=5.962867,9.016069&spn=0.004514,0.008256&sll=59.620895,90.200844&sspn=0.146887,0.528374&t=h&z=18 - Nigeria Cameroon border

The Lat Long looks like a dead end; what does the -1 mean?

Maybe Height? Coords to anything always include height at the end. Maybe its underground?

Pretty sure it's a console username bro, that's why it's in the /home/ directory. How do we know for sure it's an FTP username? For what FTP server? The previous one didn't require a password.

So, let's make plans for the Alpha:

+ We need to check the 'Nikos Stavros' monument (presumably the Molon Lave thing) - 39.465742, 24.986343 ( https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=39.465742,+24.986343&hl=en&ll=39.465702,24.988961&spn=0.014727,0.033023&sll=39.465748,24.986566&sspn=0.001841,0.004128&t=h&z=16 )

Don't forget checking the lighthouse - there's one on the southern tip of Stratis, and their meeting point on the 5th March.

Also, is Tom Larkin not supposed to arrive in 2035 technically? Seeing as that's when the ARG is set...

ARG is set now, in 2013.

Still, this is pretty cool -- keeps us on the hunt, for the same in-game locations at least. A RL Tom Larkin having a RL ticket to Tessaloniki, then taking a boat trip to RL Stratis is truly Alternate Reality. troll.png

Capt. Miller would only be 21. I'd say this is 2030s, since A3A is coming next week and reality doesn't matter anymore - to hell with 2013, see you in 2030.

Exactly when a ftp account is created most of the time it creates a directory in the "home" directory after the username of the ftp account.

The ftp server is what is holding all these files for the console.

Ok, I'm going by the ArmAverse timeline, like the one that says that Harry Larkin dies in June of this year (who just got hospitalized). Yes, Miller is 21. What's your point? Look at his tweets. Does it look like that of a 44 year old man? Nope. Clearly, Miller is 21 right now. Probably only recently enlisted into the Royal Marines. Note how he isn't Special Boat Service, which he is by 2021.

Oh, by the way, another reason I know ARG is 2013 is that the flight ticket says 2013.

Sorry I ask this but have been away from the game long time. What is ARG? What is the purpose of the thread? I read the first pages but its just confusing me.

ARG = Alternative Reality Game.

It's a game the devs put out which mimics real life, web pages owned by fake corporations and mysteries that the community has to solve. These are real webpages, for instance, but the names (ION inc, Tom Larkin etc) are from Arma. By cracking these webpages we can reveal information about Arma3, which the devs have sneakily hidden.

The ARG also has a story to it, the fake twitter accounts reveal the thoughts of characters in the game, and give us clues to the passwords and usernames we need to find.

BIS has a bit of a history with ARGs now, ever since the cache hunt in "Chernarus", actually an area in Czechoslovakia.
