ArmA 3: new ARG - Things we know so far.

Recommended Posts

1. Maybe, but is it likely? I remember BI saying they would publish further information about the release this month. Probably that new email JH has, is the info of the release date.

The rest are fine questions, but it takes a smarter man then me to answer them.

Speculating about what information Jerry has is not playing the ARG. If you do not have anything to contribute to solving the ARG, do not post. I don't know how else to phrase this. I am getting tired of deleting post after post every page. We have two people banned from this thread already, and that's just today. I would really like to avoid adding anyone else.

Would it perhaps be possible to clean up the first post and list only the things that are actually confirmed as being part of the ARG?

At this point, I am hesitant to put too much time and effort into this because it is unclear whether certain elements are real or fake. Trying to solve puzzles is difficult enough without needing to worry about whether some morons have smuggled in a bunch of pieces that don't belong.

Only the blog is "actually confirmed" to be part of the ARG - but that hasn't been updated on the first post yet(this is the only thing that openly admits to being part of the ARG, and have the same host).

Everything else is speculation.

Seeing as the m26.node-42 site(that started it all, sort of) is on the same domain as the blog you can call this confirmed as well.

Everything else is very plausible leads.

I wouldn't look at it as "actually confirmed", since this is an ARG - and things are not really confirmed until the gamemaster want you to know what it is.

Think of it instead as "not confirmed fake". As long as things are not flagged as false, they're still up in the air and could still mean something.

Everything in the first post is, as far as I know at least, relevant.

edit:

Figure I might as well post this here since the first post hasn't been updated yet. It's a recap I wrote yesterday on my groups forum of what I know since we discovered Tom__Larkin.

There's now a new player on the field.

Tom Larkin.

Some may know him from the BIS game Take On Helicopters.

An arma3 server popped up. It had a tweet @Tom__Larkin.

This quickly escalated and we now have:

his twitter - https://twitter.com/Tom__Larkin

his blog - http://altis-quest.com/ (which openly states that it is a part of an Arma 3 ARG in the about section)

the twitter of a "defense specialist" at the M26 airbase in Altis(one of the Arma 3 islands) - https://twitter.com/RandalHubb92

The blog also has a subdomain on the rv4a3.org site - http://altisquest.rv4a3.org/.

Both sites are registered by ***** @ embassyfreight . nl - possibly an alias for Jerry Hopper - Email intentionally obfuscated

Ok, if you say so.

I hope the next request would be more helpful.

I thought about using the Internet to find all of the web pages that the site http://m26.node-42.rv4a3.org/ has. We know that one of them is http://m26.node-42.rv4a3.org/stats, but it requires a username and password that we do not have.

I looked it up online, and it seems like that when you search "site:domain.com" google will show-up everything that related to that domain.com. I tried doing this on http://m26.node-42.rv4a3.org/ with no luck. Anyone knows other way maybe? I think that if we find everything related to the domain to the terminal we would find a clue/help with the findings.

I've been following this, though I usually don't even bother trying to help (I'm pretty awful at this sorta stuff), but I was going through some of the source code on various parts of the altis quest site, and I got to

http://altis-quest.com/?feed=rss2&page_id=17

In that, there is some german text (as well as a couple things with older information, Arma 3 coming 2012 etc.)

muss wohl auch die arma 3 alpha gespielt haben um bei manchen steps weiter zu kommen

which when run through a translator (so its going to be rough/incorrect) is

should probably have played arma 3 alpha to succeed at some steps further

So I'm wondering how far we can actually proceed without the alpha, seeings its been mentioned at least twice.

Also, it looks like the ARG was planned in 2012, and was always planned to involve players investigating within the alpha, so hopefully the appearance of the ARG now means that the alpha isn't too far off.

In the blog it said that we need the Alpha to find some stuff to it...

Nothing really new, it's in the About the Site section.

But I wonder because it said that, the Alpha is very close.

About the 2012 idea, not sure, because the website itself was started not long ago.

I know about it being in the about the site (my bad, I thought I had mentioned that in the post), I was just noticing that its been mentioned at least twice so it might be more important to the ARG than we think (as in, you might need lots of things from the alpha, not just a few).

Yeah I originally thought that about the 2012 thing (that it didn't make sense), but if they had designed the ARG previously but simply waited until now to grab a domain and start it, it would still kinda make sense.

No I actually think that it's outdated information. At the beginning, the thought was that we would get to play the alpha even in 2012, and maybe bi will release it in 2012. We all know what happened in the end. Due to problems there were some delays. I think the main part is to play the alpha, at least in that clue.

What if, all the clues about the monument were actually guiding us to get there in the alpha?

Regarding the alpha. There are 3 servers now. Last time I checked gamespy wrote there are total of seven players on the three servers in total, yet only one was shown in the chart.

I'm sorry... I can't seem to find where you guys picked this new ARG up... where was the clue, and when?

Myke;2303759']Maybe checking the very first post would help?

Yeah, I did... But it doesn't make sense.

First of all, that post was made quite a while a go (the post with the server image). Second of all, the server image was posted by a user, and he was the only person known to be scanning for ARMA III servers. In other words, it had a low chance of being spotted at all. If Bohemia wanted us to find it, I'd expect them to make sure that we noticed. It just doesn't seem likely, the last one started with the main webpage being hacked remember.

But think about it, that page was from within the ARG that we're seeing now, and its dated last year. The only reason for that is if a) the ARG was planned at least last year and is just being unveiled now, or b) they intentionally put in the wrong release year (Its unlikely they'd purposefully make the release date clearly incorrect).

Either way, nothing else can come out of that page AFAIK, so I reckon we move on and find some more clues.

So after reading again the post of Tom going to Altis, I thought about it.

The airbase is in Stratis, not Altis, also the airbase is alpha labeled, not Beta or Bravo...

His father built the Bravo/Beta, is there a base in Altis as well?

Also that Randall, can some get his twitter again? It said he is going to an airbase, was it alpha or Bravo/Beta?

That is interesting...

First stream (ices) contains short message which says "Call Limnos Radio Immediately". I couldn't understand his code-name (rockridge?). I'm not sure if it's not something old as I'm not following Limnos Radio. I've tried to contact Limnos Radio on Skype twice without success.

Ok, now this gets interesting, I guess we need the alpha for that or to go the IRL.

That Randall guy is going to the Beta/Bravo labeled, but the terminal is alpha.

Is there a connection between them?

Maybe the alpha is not related to the airstation because on map it doesn't say which variant.

But again, the airstation is on Stratis, not Altis, Tom is heading to Altis, while the base is in Stratis, and Randall is in Stratis...

Also what about the molon lave that was all around before? Where did it went??

I noticed that http://m26.node-42.rv4a3.org/ has the title TERMINAL M26 "alfa-sign". If this is referring to Mike 26A, then Mike 26B would logically be M26 Beta, not Bravo. Don't know if it has any significance.

Not necessarily:

International radio alphabet starts with Alpha Bravo Charlie which is also the NATO Standard. And as the setting in Arma 3 is NATO vs IRAN, we cant be sure whether b stands for beta or Bravo.
