rufuschubs 1 Posted January 19, 2013 Hello. First off I am brand new to this forum and I am honestly hoping I am posting this thread in the right place. (If not, sorry!) Anyways, I recently discovered Arma 2 through youtube and am really interested in getting it. However, I do not own a pc and am considering dual booting a mac with windows 7 to play the game. (I know that pcs are superior for gaming, please no flame wars.) Anyways, here are my specs. 2008 Imac CPU - 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Ram - 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM GPU - ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB HD - 250 GB SATA Disk (50.4 GB free) I think that is everything I need to put. The thing I am worried the most about is my GPU. Btw, I've looked into building my own pc and since I will be leaving for college in around 6 months I can't justify the purchase. Thanks for reading, and please leave an response if you can help. I want to see if the game will even be able to run on low settings before I start making purchases. (Windows 7, Arma 2, Operation Arrowhead, etc.) Btw, I thought it might be important for me to add that I plan to join some kind of a multiplayer community if I can in fact get the game to run, (most likely Shacktac or United Operations). As a result I will be installing the needed mods to play in these communities such as ACRE, which I assume may be more graphic intensive. Anyways, thanks again. :)
tonygrunt 10 Posted January 19, 2013 You should read and post in "Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications". First post has the system requirements for ArmA 2 which your graphics card doesn't meet even the minimum. ArmA 2 OA is more demanding.
rufuschubs 1 Posted January 19, 2013 well shit.. my other option is to go with my new macbook pro i got for xmas, which is much more powerful. specs: processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 - overclocks to 3.7 GHz Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB and Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB Really the only problem i can see with using the MBP is that it has a 256 GB SSD. If I partitioned it with Windows 7 I would lose a lot of HD space. I just got a 1 TB external HD which could help with storing things, but unfortunately Windows doesn't support booting from an external HD. Not sure what to do at this point :/
