Lockup...reproducable!

Recommended Posts

I just bought and installed RESISTANCE on my Computer and continued to play RED HAMMER Campaign.

Now: After finishing Mission 6 the Game crashes reproducably. Always at the screen: "On the Road to Houdan"

Nothing happens any more! Now I can't play the game any more because when I start the old Flashpoint Executable it quits with an error message...

I am NOT AMUSED!

Maybe somebody has experienced this and hopefully it gets fixed VERY soon!

Just for the record my system specs:

ASUS K7133A (VIA) with 2x AGP

GeForce 2 Ti200

Windows98

NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH SOFTWARE!!!

And... I HAVE read the FAQ!

Plz. help... Want to play further!!!!

If you read the readme.txt on your OFP:R cd you will see that the old EXE-files won't work anymore smile.gif

After playing a mission with the RESISTANCE executable it says when starting with the old FLASHPOINT executable and trying to activate the campaign:

'Users\xxMYUSERxx\Saved\Tmp\redhammer.sqc.raP':'|' encountered instead of '='

But I got savegames from the internet. The nex Mission (Mission 8) starts and plays as usual. Mission 7 still locks up.

Even before posting, but you still could try... Couldn't you? Especially when something doesn't work...

Hello,

I have the same Problem with this Mission. My Computer hangs up and only a Reset is possible.

Is there no solution for this Problem?

When not how can I jump to next Mission?

You could search the internet for red hammer savegames. I have found a campaign with all missions unlocked.

Then you may select mission 8 and press REVERT. The other Missions will be locked again after you press this. Then you have not lost anything (except maybe your campaign-points, which is not the most important thing I think) and will be able to play from this point on...

Same thing here. I installed Resistance but when playing Red Hammer I can't get into Mission 7 (Picking up the pieces). The cut scene starts and an error message appears in the top left of the screen:

'_gun setpos [targetx,_targety,_targetz] |#|': error type any, expected Number

Then when the black loading screen starts, saying "On the Houdan Road, Maldon. Mon June 4, 17.00" the game and PC just lock up. All you can do is reset.

I have downloaded the Red Hammer.sqc file from Avon Lady's site and will try to continue the campaign from mission 8 tonight (still at work at the moment). Anyone any idea what the problem is with v1.75? - I would like to try mission 7...

Same problem here! (thanx to placebo for showing me the thread)

and the same pattern: v1.75!

Jeez, can BI look into it... Mission 7 was really amazing! C'mon, it should be a small patch... sad.gif

I have the same problem.  I have v1.75 and I can't get the briefing for mission 7 to appear.  I get the same error on the top of screen during the cut scenes.  While I don't have anying to add to a possible solution, the fact that several of us are getting this bug should be a concern for Bis.   sad.gif  Hopefully they will have a solution for this bug on the next patch since Resistance does need a patch with its serveal nasty (though not game stoping) bugs.

The campaign was produced by Codemasters, not by BIS. sad.gif

BTW, search The FAQ for "redhammer.sqc" to download a copy of a completed RH campaign file.

Yah, I have tried the save game file. It does allow me to contune the campaign from mission 8, but I still can't start mission 7. It's a shame but it is only one mission.

Didn't Bis develop the game? confused.gif I thought the developers usually make the patches since they made the game. Are you telling me that Bis has had no involvement for the development of the expansions and past patches?

BIS did not create the RH campaign and voice PBO files - CM did. The problem you're having seems to be a mission script - not code - related problem. Hence, you should complain to custservice@codemasters.com.

To date, CM has not fixed other quirks in RH. It would be nice if some cleaver mission maker here could open up the PBO and try to find the source of the error. If it's a one-line error, maybe it can be patched in place (wishful thinking).

If I knew Codemasters made Red Hammer I would NEVER have bought it. Damn them to hell. And damn them more so for having my money which I thought was going to BIS.

All well, I guess I will just skip the mission since there is little chance for a patch. Thanks anyway Avonlady for your help.

Don't be surprized when a publisher or producer trys to milk a successful product made by one of their developers.  It's common for a publisher to own the licensing rights of the developer's work in the same way record labels own the songs of the artists.  It can get ugly though if the developer feels mistreated.  Bioware sued then ended their contract with Interplay becuase they felt they were not receiving their royalties from the games using the Infinity Engine which Bioware developed for Baldur's Gate.  For Bis, i don't know what their contract allows, but they should be getting something from the expansions.

I confirm this is a bug in Resistance.

We are working on a fix.

I don't know what you've got against Codemasters - every game needs a publisher and they get money for sales of Flashpoint, regardless of whether they or BIS wrote Red Hammer.

And as for blaming them for the error, if it only happens after installing Resistance, then it's BIS' fault, because they wrote the code for Resistance. You have to ensure compatibility with past releases because you can't do it for future ones.
