Triggers Do they detect Vehicle Unit Side?

Hi guys,

Simple question, do triggers detect the 'side' of unmanned vehicles? So for instance a CIV UAZ that is spawned on a marker within the Trigger activation zone?

They indeed are at first. But when a unit enters the vehicle and then get out, it is assigned to a unit side. Also that vehicle become local to the unit machine after entering. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I can remember, vehicles show in lists of triggers. The side is (as far as I can tell) civ by default, otherwise the side of the last unit that drove it. If it actually activates a "activated by: West" trigger, though, is something you'll have to test, but it probably will.

So in your example I think the trigger will be activated. In any case, that is a simple test.

Faction is often preferable to side as it doesn't change.

Ok, I've just tested this. Indeed, an empty placed vehicle is considered as a civilian one. Furthermore, if a west unit gets in an empty vehicle, it is considered as a west one. Then, if the unit gets out of this vehicle, the vehicle is again considered as a civilian one.

Cool, I was in a bit of a rut last night and couldn't work out my issue, I thought maybe the vehicles I was spawning was causing the issue, turns out. It was.

Ok, I've just tested this. Indeed, an empty placed vehicle is considered as a civilian one. Furthermore, if a west unit gets in an empty vehicle, it is considered as a west one. Then, if the unit gets out of this vehicle, the vehicle is again considered as a civilian one.

Yeah I had an activated by: Civillian trigger, to denote a restricted zone, but there are also empty vehicles spawned in there. Kept tripping the trigger.
