Opinions on the Alpha Release Date

How about we let people discuss things on the forums... that's what they are for.

What is it with people acting like these forums are a library and no one should say anything unless the devs release it?

Alpha i say comes in January, its just a guess, bohemia have been a little quiet lately and i think they will likely stay that way until after Christmas.

Discussing about something unknow is very fruitful.

Actually, there are limits on that. We prefer it if the discussion about release dates and such have a factual basis to prevent rumour spreading and misinformation.

Perhaps while two BIS people are in imprisoned and things with them are unsettled is a reason for BIS to be very quiet and not bring out anything about this Greek island, including the Alpha. I don't think it has anything to do with resources, just a matter of laying low while the lawyers work.

I think it's a real possibility that BIS will change the island(s) so they no longer represent the current island. This will take time. But honestly, 2 pols futures are at stake here and I would prefer they focus on securing their freedom b4 releasing this game. We can still play Arma2 and all the gr8 islands that already exist while we wait.

I think it's a real possibility that BIS will change the island(s) so they no longer represent the current island. This will take time. I believe BI has already released a statement saying that the islands were already different (i.e. at only 75% scale) anyway.

Why would they.. it would not be too hard for a MOD team to make the island in a scale of 1to1 using public access data...This would be more accurate than the BIS version...

Dumping Limnos = Pushed Release Date = More waiting = More people creating threads about asking when ARMA III is coming out = Admins closing more threads.

I hope it is soon as we all do, but I am anticipating after February so I don't get my hopes up too much. Part of me hopes the Dev team will release a burst of info after a certain incident has positive resolution. I am banking on Arma 3 to be my primary game until Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, and Limit Theory come out in in late 2013/2014. Not that Arma 3 will take much of a back seat, it will be played for years to come just like Arma 2.

I find that I don't give a damn about any other computer game. Arma is IT. And yeah I'm waiting anxiously to see how this all pans out.

I don't blame the Greeks for being paranoid. There's a reason why the devs chose the Agean Sea. It's a big deal geopolitically with big gas and oil pipelines from Russia and the orient running through it or planned to run through it not to mention the artifical crisis being imposed on them by international bankers, with hostile takeover intent; they may even want islands like Limnos to cover their debts.. Lots of brinksmanship going on and to the Greek govt. the intrusion of gamers into THEIR life or death game must seem annoying.

But they have to understand that this is the future, with full spectrum information and open source intelligence for all no matter what country you're in. BIS has become a part of the story they were writing.

This is going to be an outstanding game. I can feel it in my bones.

I'm just hoping those two guys get out of jail and we can move on with this.

In the official arma3.com website in the bottom of the home page there's written coming 4Q 2012, so i believe we will play the release soon, because i believe for marketing matters (maybe someone not fan never looks at these forums, but just the official w.s.), it is a very bad thing to keep written in the official W.S. a wrong estimated release period, so i would like to be optimistic, and i believe we'll se the full game release in December, 4Q 2012 ain't jan 2013

Look, in most cases I would get all hate-y when someone sets a deadline and breaks it (for something like an alpha, not a full release. Release state matters, alpha not so much), but in this case... when two of your team are imprisoned (one being in a very senior position) work will probably be slowed dramatically, even if the rest of the team does stay at work. To say it briefly, deadlines be damned when two of your team are imprisoned.

They're differently scaled and most objects/features are different to real life (to an extent!). I'm betting that airfield will be modified vastly, at the moment it looks almost exactly the same as its real life basis.

I believe at the actual world crisis, even if 2 are imprisoned, you can replace 'em; considering they'll be out of prison after the next 5 years if everything is going well, (if golden dawn will take the political power they'll never be released because nazis are in this way),you can replace 'em with skilled persons, and ain't difficult to find twice, remeber that BIS is a company and companyes are working for to earn moneys, and i believe 2 developers in jail don't stop buisness... after all buisness are buisness

and i have to say as a company owner, this is the right thing, casualties can't stop buisness, and should not, wich isn't in jail have to earn moneys to live BTW
