Kep Kelagin 1 Posted July 3, 2002 Hiya, I just bought me a new memory stick ( 512Mb DDR Ram 266mhz ) Â for smoother gameplay. I already had 2 memory cards of each 128 Mb Ram , so 256 MB ram in total. When i installed the new memory card, and removed 1 of the 128 MB cards, and when i checked for the amount of memory that was there, my computer only sees 512 MB ( the new card ), and not 512 + 128 ... can anyone tell me whats wrong, or is it just not possible to use 2 memory cards with different amount of ram on it ? My system: Asus A7Av266 motherboard AMD 1.3 ghz T-bird GF4 4400TI SB Live 5.1 512+128 memory card, but only the 512 Mb is recoqnized on my board.. Kep Kelagin 1 Posted July 3, 2002 Yes, both memo-cards run at 266MHz , and i got 2 slots for 184 pins 266Mhz memory cards, and 3 168 memory slots for non DDR memory on my motherboard . I already tried switchin slots, and no luck so far... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Placebo 31 Posted July 3, 2002 You have the same motherboard as me, just noticed that. I used to have 1x128mb PC100, I later bought 2x256mb PC133, I had the whole lot running together at 133 but it wasn't overly stable so I took it out, not sure if there was a point there, anyways that was Sdram, maybe the rules on ddr ram are different? I think the old memory modules you had in your system will go to waste...<span id='postcolor'> Absolutely, you are right, but that aint the case, because my previous two memory sticks were also 266Mhz DDR Ram 184pins, but 128 Mb only. No i removed 1 of them, and placed in the new 512 MB stick, wich makes 512+128=640 MB Ram, but i only have 512 now...no matter if i switch the sticks, i still end up with 512 Mb only Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kep Kelagin 1 Posted July 4, 2002 Well, got it fixed now; dunno what i did, but today i tried swapping slots again, and my computer now sees 640 Mb memory installed  And the extra memory is a BIG improvement on Resistance; before, with only 256 MB i had just a bit of screen freezing on high detail, but with 640 MB i now have no probs at all, and that with screen settings on very high detail Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
