I just installed my old joystick using an USB-connector, but now I get this problem: When I move the joystick, the screen starts moving and shaking, the guns are fired automaticly and I can't fly with it. The controls in ArmA keep selecting a button, then removing it, and again selecting it, removing it and so on. So I can't really change settings. My very first guess would be a "wobbly" contact on the joystick (sorry, can't describe it better). If possible, open the joystick and carefully clean all button contacts. ATTENTION!
