pooroldspike 129 Posted October 14, 2012 Hi guys i've been an Arma 2 player for a few years but have been away for a while and lost touch. I'm currently trying to get some people interested in computer wargames and I hear there's something called 'Armed Assault Lite' which is a free download, is that right? If I can get them to d/load it, it might get them hooked especially if it's free..:) Can anybody d/load it or do they have to own Comb Ops or Arrowhead or something first? PS another thing- I hear Arma 3 is on the way, is a demo available? What's the expected release date for the full game?
kylania 568 Posted October 14, 2012 There's ArmA2 Free - which is a low res texture free version of what you already have it sounds like. It's basically a blurry ArmA2 that can't run mods. :) Good for a taste of the real thing though. There's also OA Lite, which comes with Reinforcements I think? I dunno, Combined Operations is $30, just get that and know you have everything you need. :) ArmA3 will be a miracle if we see it released before this time next year. They haven't even decided what will be included in the Alpha that was supposed to happen months ago and recently entirely changes the physics engine which pushed things back even more. Probably won't be a demo for it (other than whatever form the community Alpha takes, which will not be a complete game and possibly not even MP).
max power 21 Posted October 14, 2012 Just to clarify, the Lite versions of the expansions and DLCs are for mp compatibility between users who have only Reinforcements and users who have only Operation Arrowhead, or other combinations. They come with patches for other products. ArmA 2 Free is a downgraded free to play version of ArmA 2, which is stand-alone.
