I noticed that it seems when you load a save game it spawns units a little bit above ground.

Dam you! You have seem to sunk my battleship! lol I loaded a game once only to find I was the hammerhead missile xD it was cool.

Just loaded my last savegame and the carrier was initially pointing its nose to the sky (http://i.imgur.com/Ft7Ja.jpg), then decided it wanted to do a dance and ended up like that.

Just out of interest... how were you able to do this ? did it occur randomly when you loaded a savegame, or always when you loaded that particular savegame ?

That's a fairly standard practice. you'll see a lot of games do that, especially multiplayer games. It'll look like everyone just jumped at once. It's because the models could get stuck in the ground if there's a slope. So, to be safe, they add the models a teensy-bit high, to remove any chance of it. Play some quake or UT, and you'll see the models dropped in behind a shimmer which disguises it.

Eh there is some pretty bad collision detection sometimes. I found the enemy carrier once near the port area as I was coming in to an island. It then proceeded to turn into the island and then pass right through it. It came out the other side and I had to go around the island so it got away the cheating bastard.
