Quake 1 Posted August 31, 2012 Hello, I'm having a really annoying problem with the M8 CQC, where half of the scope I can barely see because for some reason the skybox is being reflected on my scope no matter which direction I'm facing. I noticed this problem maybe 1 or 2 days ago, and it's been making it impossible to see with the majority of the scope unless I look up a bit and look through the lower bit of the scope that is beige (the mountains in the skybox). Screenshot: (due to post count I will add in following reply) A buddy of mine I always play with says he doesn't have this problem and he uses the same weapon, gear, and mods as me. Mods (in order): CBA CBA_A2 CBA_OA JayArmA2Lib ACRE ACE ACEX ACEX_SM ACEX_USNAVY Any help is much appreciated. ---------- Post added at 11:12 ---------- Previous post was at 11:10 ---------- Here is the screenshot: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/9717/2012083100001n.jpg (365 kB)
ProfTournesol 952 Posted August 31, 2012 Does it happen without mods ? Cause this troubleshooting forum is only for Vanilla game(s).

max power 20 Posted September 1, 2012 It's not the skybox being reflected per se but the environment map in the supershader. You are correct tho that the lighting is incorrect. In realtime 3d they can't really make real time reflections, so they fake them using maps like this environment map. It looks realistic enough in most lighting situations... except when it falls apart... like when you're in a dark room but some object is no longer being illuminated by the sun but is still being illumated by a clear blue sky :p It looks like the weapon has too much specularity, which is a material setting. This is a stock, 'vanilla arma' g36? Just looking at the screenshot it would seem either the material settings for that object are out of whack, or the way your graphics card is rendering it is. In particular, (and I doubt this helps you very much), but this looks like the fresnel settings are a little off. There is too much reflection from surfaces facing the camera. Are all weapons that way?
dmarkwick 259 Posted September 1, 2012 If this is neither an addon, nor a default weapon problem, then IMO it must be a driver problem. Have you always had this problem or was there a time when you did not have this problem?

Are all weapons that way? I never really used any other weapon, but looking at them now it does look like they have the same problem, just not as noticeable because they have different scopes and reflections. If this is neither an addon, nor a default weapon problem, then IMO it must be a driver problem. Have you always had this problem or was there a time when you did not have this problem? Never noticed it up until maybe 3-7 days ago. Checked for driver updates and I'm completely up to date.
