SpaceAlex 0 Posted June 20, 2002 I have been getting this messsage everytime i boot up! It comes on the bottom of the task bar where the time is etc..which is in a yellow triangle and the title is " devices or applications disabled" Â Text inside: "Applications or devices on this computer use drivers that will cause windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these from loading. click here for more details" WinOnCd 3.7 has been causing this error. I uninstalled the program and i manually deleted everyting from the registry and from the system, but i'm still getting this message. Any suggestions? Guest Posted June 20, 2002 Update all the device drivers you can find. Graphics board, sound board, network card etc... That's the only thing I can think of...
Hilandor 1 Posted June 20, 2002 xp has a system restore, if its activated, it will automatically make a restore save before a major application  or change has been made to the pc, therefore u can restore usually back to a few days previous  or a month or initial savepoint and it dont take long and sorts every problem ive had if the problem has been going on since ur install then forget text above
RedRogue 0 Posted June 20, 2002 I get the same message. What he is refering too is that WinXP has/had a lot of issues with CD burning software like EasyCD Creator 3 and 4 and 5 without the update. Apon installing this software WinXP will disable it and give you this message because It knows it will not work. However, after uninstalling the software and deleting all related registry entries WinXP still gives you this annoying message. For some reason it never realizes that the applications or devices that have been disabled for incompatibility no longer exist.

System Restore is great, but i was messing around with system restore just right after i installed WinOnCd. I disabled system restore for drive D. And then it didn't work because of that.
Placebo 12 Posted June 20, 2002 System Restore smells of poo. Better to use some backup type app to make a copy of your windows direc every week or so and leave system restore turned off, that's what I do anyways

Placebo 12 Posted June 20, 2002 You're sure it was winoncd causing the error? Tried something like regcleaner to make sure you didn't miss anything in removing it?
