Mission Folder: Empty Except for the User Made Missions I DLed

Recommended Posts

Two Questions

1. Where are the folders and files for the stock Singleplayer missions (e.g., Trial By Fire, Freedom Fighters, Bear Rising, etc.)?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Missions

I have a bunch of folders in there, but they are all for the missions that I DLed. Only other item in that directory is a readme.txt that says "Singleplayer missions"

2. Related to my ignorance of directory structure for the files for this game, my second question: I have the following

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Missions\WarfareV2_070Lite

installed. With the A2WarMod installed on my "ArmA2 Launcher by Kegetys" the Chernarus map runs fine via the Singleplayer interface. But when I try to load any of the other maps (e.g., Everon) that are listed in the 2nd menu for the Benny Warfare mod, I get an error message saying that a "sap_" file has been deleted.

I have DLed and unzipped the Everon scenario and have

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns\@SAP\addons

and @SAP installed in my launcher.

and there are a total of eight files in there (i) sap_everon; (ii) sap_everon.pbo.SAP.bisign; (iii) sap_everon_config.pbo; (iv) sap_everon_config.pbo.SAP.bisign; (v) sap_objects.pbo; (vi) sap_objects.pbo.SAP.bisign; (vii) sap_plants.pbo; (viii) sap_plants.pbo.SAP.bisign

But I have no idea where to put them to get the mod to recognize that they are available to run?

Oh how I wish for the days of Windows XP . . . or maybe this is not actually a problem with the weird Windows 7 hidden/protected files features??

Hi Anthropoid

1. Where are the folders and files for the stock Singleplayer missions

They are located in the Arma2 directory addons folder under a pbo called missions, you will have to extract that pbo and then you will get a folder called missions,

inside that will be campaigns, armory, bootcamp, scnerios, mpmissions, mpscenerios.

Question for you I am the Author of A2WarMod btw, but are you running A2WarMod on Arma2only?

as for that error message make sure you have sap_clutter.pbo in the A2WarMod addons folder.

and there are a total of eight files in there (i) sap_everon; (ii) sap_everon.pbo.SAP.bisign; (iii) sap_everon_config.pbo; (iv) sap_everon_config.pbo.SAP.bisign;

(v) sap_objects.pbo; (vi) sap_objects.pbo.SAP.bisign; (vii) sap_plants.pbo; (viii) sap_plants.pbo.SAP.bisign

But I have no idea where to put them to get the mod to recognize that they are available to run?

Just have them all in the @SAP folder you have, you wont see them run til you get ingame and choose them from the islands list in the editor, its basically for SAP everon.

In answer to your query: yes I am running A2WarMod on Arma2only, i.e., I am not running it on Operation Arrowhead.

Actually I'm just now DLing OA from Gamersgate ;)

Thanks for the info on the location of those player folders! Will give that a whirl and also follow your directions to try to get the other maps to work with A2WarMod.

ADDIT: I see

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns\missions.pbo

But I'm a bit perplexed when you say "you'll have to extract that .pbo." I didn't realize that a .pbo file could be 'extracted.' I have both IzArc and 7zip and use both routinely but, when I right click that .pbo file I don't see any option to extract--though I do see an option to compress or archive it.

ADDIT*2: yeah unfortunately putting the sap_clutter.pbo into the A2WarMod\Addons folder didn't fix my problem. Still the same errors. For example, when I try to load the Everon map, I get the error message:

You cannot play/edit this mission. It is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.sap_everon

I think I probably do not have the files for the island in the correct place. Will keep fiddling with it, but if you have any additional pointers I appreciate it :)

GREAT MOD btw!! This to me is how a game like this should play :)

and just to clarify, I can see ALL of the various maps ("islands" as you guys seem to call them) when I select the "WarfareV2_070Lite" option in the Singleplayer Missions window (Chernarus, Everon, etc., etc.). It is just that the only one that will load up and play is Chernarus.

Pbos can only be extracted by the community tools for the game.

a pbo is like a zip file but is extracted only by certain tools.

CPBO is a good tool I use regularly it will open and create pbos.

Get CPBO here-->http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=411

Just install it and once installed right click the pbo you wish to extract.

When the folder gets extracted a folder of the same name of the pbo will show up, in are all the files you need.

However the missions and other files for missions are extracted files, if you wanted to edit those missions then you can move them to the folders for the editors.

See the 2 tutorials in my sig for further details on pbos, tools, and editor folders, mission folders ect,.

Thank you Gunter :)

Unfortunately, still not working. CPBO is installed and associated with PBO files. When I try to open

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns\missions.pbo

I see CPBO command line screen flicker for about 50milliseconds and a little 'error' dong-noise, and then nothing. No folder appears, no nothing.

I wonder if this is a Windows 7 issue; several apps that are highly recommended don't seem to quite work right.

I ran Tankbusters "Unassoc.exe"

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=411

to allow CPBO to properly associate with .pbo files (had to "Run as Administrator" but did get it to work) but I did see a successful "Done" in the CPBO command line window so I think the app IS able to be associated with the .pbo files.

When I try to actually Open CPBO (right-click and choose Run as Admin) all I get is the "Do you wish to associate CPBO with .PBO files" -> YES -> Done -> CPBO closes out.

Found some old post that suggested that to get CPBO to work it needed to be in the same directory as the .pbo files so I'm trying that to see if it makes it work.

Nope that didn't fix it either. Weird thing is, now when I right-click the Missions.pbo file and tell it to Open with CPBO, it actually causes ArmA2 OA to execute! and it goes into the Armory!?

Hi.

When you use CPBO to extract the pbo it will give you that black screen dialog and close out, after words you should see a folder

with the same name of the pbo in the same folder you had extracted, you dont see anything there?

Nope CPBO doesn't seem to work for me. Suspect it might be a Win 7 issue.
