The backpacks were existing ACR content from OA, they remained with high quality models and textures throughout the ACR lite Beta patches. As did a lot of the ACR weapons from OA.

The units certainly are new, I don't know how borked anyone's missions will be if the used the OA ACR units though.

Well, because the makers of this patch for some reason thought it would be a good idea to overwrite existing content and define this with more new characteristics than just the model and textures, but also altered the weapons and backpacks of various existing Operation Arrowhead ACR units, any mission created with the latter is impacted. People who have only Operation Arrowhead and players who have the ACR DLC will not be able to play together because for the one a unit has weapon X, using ammunition Y and backpack Z, while for the other the same unit has weapon A, using ammo B and backpack C with different content.

The class names for the DLC are revealing of a flawed design, compounded by a flawed implementation. Either no regression testing was done, which would have revealed the mistakes made, or no action was taken to rectify its findings. Look at the list of classes for the infantry units as it is after release of this ACR DLC.

What is wrong with this picture is that the DLC reuses existing classes, overwriting existing Operation Arrowhead content, rather than defining all new classes for the DLC desert unit (CZ_Special_Forces_TL_DES_EP1 is overwritten instead of an all new CZ_Soldier_Spec_TL_Dst_ACR introduced for example). By retaining existing Operation Arrowhead classes for OA ACR content unchanged and having the new content defined for all new classes, preferably under their own vehicleclass, one could have easily avoided the breaking of existing content. Now any mission using the CZ_Special_Forces_TL_DES_EP1 created with Operation Arrowhead will have this unit use the M4A3 with underslung for the OA user and the 7.62 Bren for the ACR DLC user. This is not a good thing to have occurring, but the fact that such a situation would have been entirely avoidable is troubling.

Any patch for this DLC would be well advised to retain all existing Operation Arrowhead classes entirely unchanged (models, weapons, ammo, backpacks) and define all new classes to take advantage of the new pretty stuff added in the ACR DLC. That would not break the Operation Arrowhead content and still give the user all the new stuff without the 'undocumented features' that this initial release of the DLC introduced. The fact that the old models are retained is a bonus too, as more variety in unit models is a good thing.

The campaign does feel a little bland. No cutscenes. Missions are very, "go out there and do something". Seems as if it was made as a community campaign rather than a proper BIS one. I'm only on the third or so mission, but that's my impression so far. Maps seem nice. Quality of vehicles, units and weapons are solid just like BAF. But the campaign isn't as enjoyable as I thought it would have been. Seems like it was made in like a week.

Maybe I will blow off your mind but: the campaigns are also single player missions. Therefore, you should count them in the comparison.

I can't. Not until we are done QA'ing ACR and BIS will make it stop crashing GTX2xx drivers every 2 minutes.

I totally agree.

I posted something about that too:

I am a bit disappointed too.

Not about the content which is quite important, but about the SP mission and the campaign.

There is only 1 real mission - the 3 other one are showcase and bootcamp.

And for the campaign, we're always in charge, and except for the dog mission which is quite new, and the pilot mission, I didn't really enjoy the campaign... Dunno why, but there was something missing...

As an example, the 1st mission reminded me hunt for Lopotev and Bardak from ArmA 2 campaign...which I didn't like (Thanks God, the area is smaller)!!!

I am sorry to say this, but some usermade campaign are much more better than that one...

IE: SEAL Team Six Devgru or Opération Cobalt.

I can't. Not until we are done QA'ing ACR and BIS will make it stop crashing GTX2xx drivers every 2 minutes.

Maybe try the 301.42 drivers. The 1.62 patch caused constant crashes for me until I updated to those using a 560 (Non Ti)

can't say anything about the ACR DLC being another culprit, haven't finished downloading it yet.

I am d/l the pre-order but I understood that there was going to be a seperate LITE version d/l for everyone else. Do we have any word on it's release?

I'm preparing my Insurgency ACR mission but it will suck if I can't populate the server due to some clients missing necessary files.

i have message in box "missing string" when i launch the setup.exe of Army of the Czech Republic DLC

download ok unzip ok i don't understand??

I encountered same problem on my test setup, only uninstall of OA and Arma2 and new install solved it.

But before that, are you sure your OA is 1.62 and Arma2 is 1.11 ?

Then i would try to locate any ACR related registry entries and remove them.

Pandur II is amphibious in RL. So it seems another config bug?
Czech army got two versions of Pandur II, the second one was uparmored and lost amphibious ability (dunno what are the numbers of each version though). Thats from real life (I drove in it though on few occassions, pretty nice vehicle in RL).

As fraczek says, there are two versions, one is amphibious, one is too heavy (just like the uparmoured LAV-25 are too heavy to swim.

Again I will reiterate my point.

Why bother with the rear thrusters then?

Its a modular vehicle (which is en-vouge these days) and the addon armour can be removed, at which point it is again amphibious, so the thrusters make sense.

never mind. Had to turn off the firewall and anti virus and now suddenly up to 30KB/s.

Still kinda slow but I will take that over 5KB/s anyday.

So, wouldn't the thrusters be modular too?

What is the point of having expensive unarmoured equipement in the firing line when it can be stored away and used for spares.

Yes, I found that too. Using Spirited Machine launcher, all the other DLCs loaded themselves up. With ACR, I found I had to get the launcher to load it as a mod.

Will the new woodland tree LOD be fixed? It seems that far away (500m+) tree looks like its made out of cardboard?

I like ACR so far but the BVP 1 is bugged, The ATGM crossair is off center.You cant aim the same goes for the spike in the pandur.

I have this too and it also adds a second BAF logo in the bottom left.

Was unsure if this was worth buying but the two new terrains pushed me over the line. Then I jump and on quickly realize that they are not new terrains, just Cherno cut outs with new colors and a river. Pretty disappointed by the false advertising there. Sorry to be a downer but I gotta call that BS when I see it.

enjoying this release. new weapons rock quite nicely, and the shooting range is quite interesting. not had time for much more than that, well other than flying around exploring map - which strangely enough extends quite a bit past the harsh cuto off boundaries. be really nice if the map was popukated with town/vegetation or something to be even bigger. the base terrain and lakes seems to be there.

anyway i like this and its worth the price by far. cant wait for the time to actually get into it properly.

I'm pretty dissapointed with Bystrica map. It's only refreshed Chernarus with few changes like trees, grass and buildings. I hoped it's gonna be brand new location.
