At this point, i'm in a Skyrim modding mood and am 'on-break' from ARMA 2, so it'll be after that.

Sorry for asking this but what mod are you working on (name?), what does it do and what is your nickname on Nexus?

I was really excited to play this map, however I have spent the last day trying to fix a issue I have been having with ARMA 2 OA running the map, as you can tell i'm not very experienced with adding in addons or putting map scripts in.

I will present screenshots of the errors and my problems, however I believe it has something to do with the userscript.

make a folder : ***\steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\addons

and put the MARKB50K_Apocalypse.pbo in there, if i remember, that fixed it for me.

I wonder how you guys can play this. Even on small maps like Celle I had like 15 FPS in best cases... I resigned.

@tortuosit: you should reduce the number of enemy infantry and vehicle, but even more important: air groups. Although I admit I play this only in LOST mode where you don't have many soldiers at start, but only the enemy commands large forces and you fight a guerilla war. That works fine even on my system, which is not ideal for A2 CO in general and this mission in particular (AMD Phemom 2 X4 3.0 GHZ OCed to 3.6; Geforce 8800 GT; 4 GB RAM; Windows XP). Just play around with the size of the forces, find your individual "limit"!

I played it in lost mode! But I will try what you say. I've got an i7 3600k 3.4 GhZ, GTX-570 and 8 GB RAM.

touristo, I only saw the factions setup screen. In

I can see what you are referring to, the "Lost Mission Setup" screen, where you can set # of Infantry, Air groups etc... I'm in Lost mode and I do not get this screen for whatever reason...

@totuosit: LOST as variation of the APOCALYPSE code works a little different from the original LOST setup screen. The video is from the old LOST mission that was independent from APOCALYPSE. In the mission discussed in this thread, things work like this:

First you DECIDE IF east OR west IS FRIENDLY OR ENEMY

Second, you choose the OVERALL STRENGHT of the friendly and enemy force's size within the parameters of "low", "normal","high". Whenever you change something in this dialogue on the left screen side, a short popup window on the right side will appear showing the amount of all troops in numbers, i.e. how many infantry, air or mechanized groups both sides will get with the adjustments you have made.

Third, you can opt to change the RELATIVE STRENGHT of Infantry, Mechanized units and Air groups within your forces and the enemy forces under the given OVERALL STRENGHT. That means you can choose between 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1 (=what the game gives you as default numbers) and 2 times the normal number of Infantry, Mechanized or Air units within the composition of your forces and the enemy forces. You also can disable one service branch entirely ("Taliban have no Airforce! I want to carpet bomb THEM, not the other way round!") by choosing "None" for that service branch instead of the multipliers. Everytime you change something here, the popup window will appear again showing the effects of your changes to your absolute numbers.

Fourth, pick the countries and the factions within the countries like USMC vehicles and Force Recon infantry units as factions of US as your side and RHS vehicles, RHS infantry and Stagler's Speznaz as factions of Russia for the enemy side -unfortunately you get to choose from all supported factions even if you don't have those mods, so check what you choose!

Touristo, that helped very much, I'm ashamed I did not read the brown popup windows to the right side, which tells about the number of units. I was under the impression "strength" is something about the skill-Array... A first test with much reduced air support showed me it will run a lot smoother.

hello everyone! When i play 20min this mission the respawn don't work anymore. You have a fix? Also we need use high command for recruit? (sorry for my bad english i'm french)

[i use asr-ai , jrss and markb50k]

EDIT: Play 45min today after 30min all script don't work (only form new group and special action but no effect) and when i want load the map i have a message "Too many virtual memory blocks requested"

I have a pentium e2200 2.2 ghz and hd radeon 6770

How popular is this mod? I have tried all the major SP missions/mods for Arma II and this is by FAR the best. I was almost done playing Arma because of not being able to find a decent sp game mode. Is there any other mods like this one?

Great job markb50k! I have already put at least 300 hours into this mod and don't plan on stopping. I even had to get every single map this mod supports just so I can play through them all.

If you guys want a real fun challange what I do is set the respawn to 0 and do a commander style hardcore mode. Good luck with Panthera!

Hi everybody. maybe someone of you could help me to find the settings I would like to have.

I suppose it is possible to start "apocalypse" on an island with a setting that looks like this ???

- all bases are controlled by enemy

- you start with an initial invasion on some point, thus forming a beachhead

- subsequently capturing outposts/bases to gain more support points for reinforcements

-...while the enemy tries to push you back into the sea (settings from easy to hard)

whenever I start a map and altering settings for amount of initial troops - and countries/factions uses

I start with an island already partially in control of my side - especially the smaller islands are

almost 50/50 in control (with two sides playing for control). and battles are already raging

criss-crossing the island since control of bases is spread not concentrated on some parts.

btw: Is that meant to be that I can buy upgrades (recruiting desk) without having an HQ present?

how do I get the HQ? I just do not understand how it works it seems

This is easy. Just set Static, partisan and infiltration on enemy sides and none on allied. If you selected on setup screen "Do not start with HQ" then you have to order one for 1000 credits from reinforcements menue. I think it is 0-8-1.

I think its unplayable for me on my i7 2500k/GTX-570 system. I started it only with "-mod=@MARKB50K_Apocalypse;<maps>" -nosplash -skipIntro -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7"

...and Lost mode in Chernarus. Only chose the USMC faction as blufor and Russians as OPFOR. Not whole country.

Well, framerates are around 15 FPS, often with drops down to less than 5. Ugh.

I dunno why people keep having probs with this. I play Chernarus with no probs and I am running a i3 laptop with 4 gigs of ram and very low end video card.

Is it possible to add more exotic units such as AlienZ, Undead and Predator mod? Would be awesome to fight dynamically against an alien onslaught.

That is the most rediculous thing I have read on this thread thus far and the answer is no. No one would want to play that anyways. Arma 2 is a military sim not a zombie/Alien shooter.

I think the existence of mods like DAYZ, or Namalsk Crisis, proves you wrong here.

Lot of people would play it.

I would play it, cause i like Scifi games, but i dont like theyr arcade settings, so Scifi game, (or alien shooter as you call it) with Arma grade realism and freedom, would be nice to have.

Yes: Play Escape Chernarus (or Podagorsk) and Flashpoint missions. Sorry, but Apocalypse was unplayable for me too.

I am running a laptop with i3 processor 4 gigs of ram and a VERY weak gpu and I can run any map in apacolypse with the default reinforcements after tweaking a few graphics settings. So anyone who says this mod is unplayable doesnt have a effing clue.

I was only partially trolling you here. I dunno why anyone would want to play anything like that on ARma but I guese they do.

@clockworkalex: care to share your graphics settings? Would help a lot of players to enjoy this fine mission who have weak hardware. I am really curious what you did because for me, only the number of forces seemed to have any effect.

Hello, first off I am sorry for the bump but I require some help. It seems that many times when I re-spawn the screen becomes red for a bit then is very blurry. I'm at a loss for what to do as the screen stays red for a long time before becoming a blurry mess, making it unplayable, any help would be greatly welcomed.
