Ah, thank you for providing an illuminating example.

For instance this post was not meant as criticism towards me as a member and my opinions but as a personal attack on the basis of problems with authorities. Denoir the member couldn't care less what paratrooper says. Denoir the member would say "lol, come back when you grow up" smile.gif

Now, denoir the mod has to act since he is attacking the authority and not the person.

Denoir the mod says:

soccer_ref_yellow_card_md_wht.gif

Yellow card for paratrooper!

For those who don't know football a yellow card is a warning. Two yellow cards = red card = punishment. Punishment depends of course on the severity of the case. It could range from postcount reduction to permban. Of course the latter is for extremely serious violations of forum protocol.

For paratrooper it could mean: One more warning = 24 h tempban. smile.gif

Alright, fine! I'm through bitching about member titles mad.gif I just dont want to be an OF Fan anymore. I'v said it before, i'm a far bigger fan of OFP than i am of the word "of".

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Well, it is easy to spot nonsense threads. For instance that cookie-monster thread was an obvious target. Sure it was funny, but it was pretty meaningless. You have to consider also that the mods are all pretty self-going so it ends up being the judgement of the mod that decides. All the mods want what is best for the forum, but as individuals we can have slightly different views on things. Placebo's actions are of course a good point of reference, since he has been around very long and has a good experience of what works and what does not. Anyway, it could be much worse. If we were playing by the rules, the "A little therapy" thread would have been long gone.

<span id='postcolor'>

If this is the case, whats with Wobbles unrelenting post frenzys going unchecked? Iv seen that guy FILL the first page of Off Topic with his own posts and not one of them was about anything worth while. Are you telling me not one of the mods feels that kind of behaviour should be controlled?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Not our rule. BIS rule. They have been very strict about it. Their board. Their rules. We have to accept that.<span id='postcolor'>

Well you could have at least told us this. Its things like that that give you guys such a bad name. All we need is a little explanation like "Hey, all. BIS needs you not to post images over 100k." And we (at least I) would have accepted that with no problem. But you made it look like you guys were ust fucking with us.

Half of the reasons people hate mods can be eliminated if you people would just show a bit more respect towards us. We're all people here. Dont let that get lost on you just because you cant see my face.

This was before my time as a mod. The reason why both Gimbal and I were selected as mods is that there was not enough manpower to go around. I can guarantee you that I would close many of Wobbles complaint threads.

Well, now you know. And you can inform others that complain smile.gif

As I said, I am equally disrespectful towards everybody tounge.gif

Anyway, those who on purpouse break forum rules don't deserve that respect. Not from the mods and not from the members. I think that the problem is that mods often just do the administrating and dont get involved in the actual discussions in the thread. So it makes it look like they come out of nowhere and spoil the fun. This is far from true. Mods may not post much, but they read all the posts. One must also remember that these are BIS official forums. They represent the company. We have to respect that.

Right! I gave you some of perfectly reasonable advice which was scorned!

I was being perfectly reasonable, what is all this yellow card nonsense? You are being insulting but what can I do? Nothing. You can ban me or whatever other punishment you dream up. I have been a useful and active member in the forums and you recon to ban me?

This is the sort of theing that makes me and others angry, the other mods arn't doing it.

It takes new moderators a little while to get into the swing of things, thus it takes a little bit of patience from both sides, it's a learning process, we may all make mistakes in the beginning, I know I did at first (and yes from time to time I still make the odd mistake).

However I will say on record I've been very pleased with the commitment and attitude shown by the two new moderators.

As for the comment about how "we" treat forum members, my view is if you act like children I will treat you like children, act with respect and that will be reciprocated, on the whole I have a great amount of respect for the majority of people on this forum, we have a good community spirit, one where people will help each other out with stuff, as well as being able to have good discussions with each other and a bit of fun.

As for how strict we may be as moderators, think back to how this forum was before it was co-moderated by Bis/OFPN, if you weren't around in those days then "nuff said".

I respect Denoir for what he was trying to do with this thread, however I would suggest for he and anyone else that the best way for such issues to be dealt with is by means of a PM to any/all moderators, anyone who has been around a while will know that I take all PM's seriously and deal with them as quickly and discreetly as possible, whether it's a complaint about another forum user, a suggestion, or even a complaint about me, I deal with them all as seriously and impatially as I'm able.

And finally I'm closing this, if anyone feels the need to start a new thread on this topic don't, it will be deleted, yes some of you won't be happy, some of you won't think it's fair, but hey life isn't fair, and as I said above if you have issues PM them smile.gif
