Unsung Vietnam War Mod Version 2.5 Discussion

Ok time to hit it off , any and all questions regarding our next release 2.5 can be made here.

We will drop a WIP screenshot in here and there, but we are all working hard at the moment to finalise this release. Let me say this release is going to be very well polished compared to our previous releases. Already we have seen vast improvements in game play and performance. All those annoying RPT errors are being sorted and new equipment is being added.

JOBS: updated 20.01.13

We are looking for a moddler/texture artist to take over our weapon re texture and upgrade so if anyone wants to help out please PM me.

Must be familiar with O2 and have the drive and skill to complete the given task within a reasonable amount of time.

I got it, however, I'd like to know how long is the campaign you're working on (as you told me that you would release it with the 2.5 version).

and, if we can't ask about specific details of what will be included in 2.5, I ask:

ETA before release? not too long I hope :pray:

BTW, how many are you guys working on it?

anyway, good luck and good work for this mod, I'm just impatient about it!

Ok we are looking at at least a 15 - 20 mission campaign.

ETA release - Depends if we can get some external help it will be a lot sooner :)

At the moment we have 6 of us working hard on it.

WIP REPORT

Hey all,

Well we are still moving forward time for a bit of an update and some eye candy to keep you interested.

Campaign/Missions

The mission guys are continuing work on the campaign we can now reveal is called : Operation Copperhead

You are Captain Jack Campbell from the special forces southern highlands command bought in to take charge of Camp Oscar. Survive numerous VC attacks on the SF base and surrounding villages while you retrain the local CIDG forces and build relations with the local populous. Go on recon, rescue and support missions following a progressive original storyline. However, watch out for the hardened NVA forces also entering the AO they will try to oust you to take control of this strategic area as they move down from the north. It's up to you and a specialised team to turn the tide and keep your AO under US control.

Sounds

We have also remixed all our weapon sounds to match as closely as possible to the real thing. However , it still gives you that punchy feeling like you actually holding the gun in your hand. Also we are expanding the sound side of things to take you deeper and immerse you in jungle operations of Vietnam. Now you will actually hear the VC and the screams for help from your wounded team mates, plus a few other surprises.

Configs

While the config wars continue, Columdrum is winning the battle. However he could use some help there is a lot of little fiddly fixes to be made to get the mod in top shape.

As you can see YAC has been hard at work updating and re texturing our weapons. Here's a few WIP pics so far

Very nice, i have 1 question. Will you add few mp/sp missions too, in next release or only campaign (im very happy that you make Vietnam era campaign, last time i play campaigns during Vietnam war was in OFP, many years ago ).

I think you guys should also buy OA's engine from BIS and then develop a high quality Vietnam war mod just like Iron Front Liberation 1944, then I would definitely buy it. Anyway, thanks for you great work!

And if you ever have a script/config problem that looks like you can't solve it, don't hesitate to ask.

I'd do my best to help.

Ah, each day should have 48 hours, then I'd apply for a job in your mod team too. But alas, next to HIP, DIH Africa and other commitments, there is no more time :(

I would rather see Unsung stuff incorporated to PR:ARMA2 as a custom factions (or addon, or a mini-mod) to provide solid PvP MP gameplay. On top of that you could still play the SP/COOP etc. if you want to.

Unsung could be to PR:A2 what PR:V is to PR:BF2.

You rifles look nice :)

Just an observation from one m16a1 variant 'maker' to another, neither the car-15 or the m16a1 had the brass deflector depicted on your models. It is certainly a niggling issue, and not one that would detract from the enjoyment of your mod. It does certainly not detract from the hard work you put into the foregrips and other details... Just a heads up.

Not every mod should or needs to use the PR framework, i understand your opinion. But Arma2 mods have worked perfectly fine before PR came along.
