Finally got this puppy working after 5 dayz of trying -even bought Arma 2 AGAIN off Steam (long story).

What can I say, I don't really like zombie games but this thing is awesome. As soon as I spawned, my senses felt heightened as I was suddenly aware that death could literally be anywhere -and I didn't know where I am and was hungry/thirsty. I was scoping out the town near my spawn point besides the ocean. I could see undead roaming around and then finally saw another player who was checking his inventory and didnt see me. I ran next to him and kept my gun pointed away from him so that when he popped up -he'd know i was friendly. We loosely teamed up (no voice response from him) and cautiously walked into town in which i found some ammo and food in a hiouse. When i came out, i saw my friend get attacked by zombie in the street, I opened fire to help him out -that attracted a horde of Zeds. I ran, they clawed and bit me while I took out 11 of them -they finally devoured me by a remote farmhouse :(

Twas awesome!

I read somewhere else that you actually feel more connected to the landscape and this I find to be totally true. Chernarus feels utterly alive in this environment in a way I dont ever remember experiencing. I find myself watching and reading the lay of the land as better travel routes or escape plans. I watch the sun and try to place time of day for direction and follow electric posts towards structures.

This is really great stuff and I hope to see alot more of it - Dinosaurs/Velociraptors anyone :p

nice work DetCord.

I have been booted out into the lobby twice now when I am trying or about to light up a glow stick. Maybe a co-incidence, but has anyone else seen this?

Tho I've still been replaying a lot of campaignes and misiions since the 1.60 release, this mod has brought a lil more to this game, thanks.

And thanks to Tonic for hosting the US1 & US2 servers. I've had connect issues with about 10 others I've tried...mostly really slow to load in, but his always connect me right in :) .

The one thing I wish for in this game is.... if I am shot by a bandit that my body turns into a zombie to either attack him... or run away.... Might make them think twice about shooting people..

I just try to avoid people completely. Move slowly and always be on the lookout for other survivors. If you see another person, do not approach them. Always watch your back. Stay away from populated areas where most people will hang out. Only move into a town unless you really need water, food, or ammunition.

I try to raid farm houses and kill animals for food.

Just out of curiosity, but is this really even a mod? Mod is short for modification, correct? Because this doesn't modify anything in the game, that I know of anyway. It is more of a mission or addon.

Brink, what resolution are you running at? I see that the debug monitor overlaps the detection icons.

It's definitely a MOD because of the persistent world, I don't believe that has been achieved before.

DayZ did need to modify a great deal of things. Making databases work from a centralized server is not exactly a vanilla function, neither are zombie models, custom animations and sounds, not to mention the added or modified weapons and items.

The fact that you needed to download addons means that you are indeed using a mod.

Foxhound, my post was not directed at anyone. Rocket himself calls it a mod in the title (DayZ Zombie RPG (Unofficial Mod) Alpha), but I was never sure if it was actually a mod or just a mission. I only asked because I see that everyone is calling it a mod.

I would call it a mod as its in a mod folder "@dayz" also as it use addons which add things to the game, as the ability drink and eat food. Although could be defined as a mission. I would say this is a mod as it is a modification to existing game play.

Yeah all the work behind the scenes its doing to improve the way arma handles multiplayer plus bringing players, revenue and renewed interest to the game. Pointless :j:

He has been banned, and his database profile corrupted in such a way his game will lockup whenever he tries to connect. He went through a number of servers doing what hackers do.

I want to make clear that the nickname Grey Wolf is used several times, to all appearances! The Grey Wolf of the JgBtl533 ArmA Squad was then probably not!

So I want to have the environment play a greater role. So that if it is raining outside, that has a decision-making impact on your behavior. If it is sunny, if you have to swim, all those things will have an impact on your player.

Lol, I react different, whenever I see people I try to team up with them(after making out they wont shoot me on sight), and of all the people I have met only one tried to kill me(and he was a bandit)

Sorry for doubleposting, the first post seem to have imploded when I tried to add the RPT files :s

Hello there, and thanks for taking the time to read this post, as I really love this game already, and I have no idea why it is acting like this. I've already posted a thread on reddit and on the dayz forums about this, but since not everyone reads reddit or the forums, and I got tipped that I should talk to you guys!

I've tried google and other sources, but I can't find any specifics to this problem :|

I've noticed that no matter what I do with the GFX options, I seem to get small FPS stutters while playing online, I'm talking every second or so, the game "stops" for half a second, then goes fine again, it's playable, but VERY annoying when in intense situations.

I have not tried playing any other mods or ARMA2 online yet, I've read somewhere that people think the stutters are from the debug monitor in the mod, is there any way to turn that off so I can try that?

The game runs -completely- smooth and awesome in singleplayer/bootcamp on everything on maximum graphics and 2000 visibility, so I don't think it's related to my specs, but I'll include them anyway!

My specs are;

1 MS Win7 Ultimate 64bit SP1

Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.8GHz

4GB DC DDR3 @ 662 MHz ( that's 1333 MHz I believe, becuase of DC) GeForce GTX 460 1GB

ASUSTeK P7p55d-e LX Motherboard

I doubt this has anything to do with my harddrive, but it's a Western Digital 1TB disk ( Green version )

What I have done inbefore posting this to get help without any success is as follows

I just came out from the map editor on Chernarus, I just flew a chopper through all the cities at non-fps stutter, completely smooth at everything maxed, with about 1000-1500 visiblity - If I bring this online on DayZ, I still get the stuttering, the GFX changes do -no- change to the stutters.

I've done HDD check for read/write speeds, everything was okay, but not amazing speeds, shouldn't be the HDD speed.

Thanks so much for reading this, and if I forgot anything please ask for it, and I'll respond as soon as I can!

Not boring at all! The constant feeling of bandits trying to kill (to many bandits!) you for your loot and the zombies you need to sneak by to get some loot is pretty tense!

Pointless? Yeah sure, the game is mainly prolonging your inevitable and certain death and losing all your loot again. Maybe in the future there will be a persistent perk system that you keep after you die (or something else)? This mod is a very welcome alternative to the usual Domination and Warfare stuff, nice to play something different in the ArmA world.

Lol, 9 out of 10 times I am getting killed by other players, I met 1 friendly in 3 days. The rest just wait for you to make a noise or use a flare and go to your pos to kill you. And of course that is the way to go. Why would you loot and kill zombies if you can let other players do the looting and killing the zombies for you and then simply take their nice loot that they spend many hours to get.
