I did indeed. They created the mod/website, so they can do whatever they want with it.

It that hard to comprehend?

Nicholas, James222 is simply explaining why he didn't post on the PR forums. There is no reason to get into a tussle over it.

They will lock threads and pass out infractions if you criticize them on their own forums. I think if they opened it up they might actually get a decent population going, because of mods like ACE, JSRS that actually make ArmA exciting and difficult. In the end they're running the mod like a business imo.

As will the moderators here if you don't follow the forum rules. You will not get infracted for posting constructive feedback.

Project Reality has always been about the complete experience. You install the mod and you are guaranteed that the game will play the same no matter which server you join. You don't have to install 30 other mods, you don't have to disable 25 currently running mods, you don't have to look up the difference in gameplay rules.

You may not like it and you're entitled to that opinion. It is true that this is an unusual model within the BIS community. It is our decision to stick by it however.

Another thing, it just doesent work like the original project reality. The flags are way to centered and there isn't enough tough vehicle combat. Every single time I've died in an APC or Tank its been by some random guy camping a static heavy AT he quickly threw into a UAZ. I think if TOW's worked like in the original, gameplay would be smoother for vehicles and would be way more balanced then it is. Or atleast make the Heavy anti-tank kits require skill. I don't know what the issue is but it just isn't as fun as PR:BF2.

If you would have actually gone to the PR forums you'd notice the discussions about AT and after reading them you could try and contribute. If you played more you'd also know that the TOW isn't the HAT that is causing your problems.

I'm sorry for not visiting some obscure forum and reading every page of it. And yes it is causing problems, you know why vehicles actually mean power in the original PR? Because super soldiers aren't running around soloing with heavy antitank setups.

Because AAS is supposed to be balanced. It does not play well with vehicles, 99% of the time its worth it more to go inf.

yes-agree.We played aas maps 120 players serious games with 1 commander each army of 60 players.around 5 squads 10-12 players each.NO ONE step where he wants and always someone complaining about balance.Sorry.

But pr best what I play in arma game for last 12 years(OFP arma1,2,oa pmc etc, crcti mfcti aas charly foxtrot ic arma warfare).Doesn't mean it haven't got problems - but problems everywhere, sometime nothing we can do.

This is a given for any mod ^^^ but james you cant just go saying untruthful things about the devs if you don't even want to read the PR forums, I think overall you've got to understand that the devs have heard over and over (what about this, like in this mod) and when your trying to create something new and different how is that helping?

I agree that the PR community can be a bit protective of its mod(and its now past tense), but overall a lot of that has changed, we at RGG support a variety of mods and have several servers therefore we wouldn't support a community which said that other mods sucked.

Overall I believe in balance, and that balance is bits and pieces, bit of ace and acre, bit of I44 and a bit of PR.

If you make all those the same by suggesting exactly the same things in each mod then what's the difference, you wouldn't have variety, and id rather have a specialised particularly good mod in one area than a mod made up of several bad quality parts.

ACE and ACRE are good at Coop, PR is good at PvP and I44 is good at being awesome, there's not much else you can do and combining any either one of them would take away from the other.

They should at least consider adding "missions" to community made maps, there are so many good ones. Right now we are limited to Cherno,Taki and Zarga which get quite boring after sometime.

Weren't they at one point going to do some custom maps. Thought I read that somewhere?

They are. And have been for a LONG time, ranging from 5x5 to 20x20: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f509-mini-updates-team

But with maps like the McNools ones, Celle2, Fallujah and so on and the fact that take a good while to make\release a new map, why not open the option to make scenarios in such maps? Right now only ONE server is running the mod (I aprecciate that RGG guys!) so I don't think that such thing would cause a massive desynch between PR players.

I really like the PR concept and once you get in a battle with 100+ people, coop doesn't cut anymore (at least not without mods). The lack of updates and the decision to not use any "outsource" is only hurting the mod IMO. But I really don't want to start that discussion that generated problems.

Regarding from DayZ: From what I know, I suspect that eventually those devs will end up controlling servers for the DayZ standalone but that "engine limitations" for RV3 would prevent them from doing so for the mod. As for Project Reality... it seems to me that they just happen to have a specific vision of what Project Reality should be, and besides what Deadfast said about a standardized experience (ooh that dirty word get ready for hordes who would accuse him of console-izing ARMA)... maybe some people just don't want to use ACE or JSRS in the first place.

Or is it bad to say that someone could possibly not want ACE? (Count me as an ACE non-fan, but it's not a knock against the mod devs or their competence/skill, I just don't like the concept.)

What do you think we have been doing at RGG?

http://forum.rggprclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=313

Currently we've got our mod which is a demi mod of PR, it has lingor island and soon some more islands, but we have to host it privately and whenever we do it requires an official post on the PR forums.

Every time we try to get an event going we get no one sign up, therefore there is no chance of having those maps even though we've built in game versions of them :/

There is also the RGG tournament coming soon which will be another island also.

We will keep trying but till we get enough numbers there really is no point kicking a 80 person server for 2 people :S

Thinks that work good on Battlefield dont have to work good on other games too. On Battlefield it improves the realism in a special way that it makes this mod an awesome experience (I really enjoy it there!).

But on ArmA iam asking myself, for what do i need this special pr experience? ArmA already has a big experience. Playing Missions with my Clan makes so much more fun than playing this. We create our own Missions, our own trainings. For ous there is no reason to play this mod, because the realism, the expericen pr try to give arma is already there.

PR needs something that improves ArmA in the same way it does with Battlefield. Bringing just the BF:PR experience to ArmA is sadly not enough in my opinion :-/

Iam missing something awsome that tells me, get your *** on the PR Servers!

thats just my opinion and the reason why iam unable to play this :-/

Playing Missions with my Clan

And there is your answer. Not everyone wants to join a clan in order to enjoy the game.

I would be very glad at least if PR developers would bring up the new maps soon (-ish).

Still playing in Cherno//Taki//Zarga has become extremely boring.

As i ve seen some vids in U-tube -the upcoming maps are awesome with crazy amount of detail- although in Afghan-like (sadly) environment again.

Lots of times i caught myself watching BF2-PR vids..although i never played it (or BF2)

I just don't know..

It has a 'strange essence of magic' ArmA (sadly) lacks..

A problem I keep running into with PR is when I get killed and for whatever reason it's not possible to respawn with my squad, so I have to respawn at the Main Base or one of the FOBs, which are miles away from my squad, so then I have to spend ages trying to get back to them, which is no fun whatsoever.

Having some angry squad leader shouting at everyone 'cos they're not doing this or that, despite them not being clear about who they're talking to is rather tedious as well. I've had some good sessions on there though.

I was looking at some BF:PR youtube videos earlier and that looked kinda fun (certainly the map/squad screen and weapon selection looked less confusing than A2:PR) so I might dig out my CD for that and give that a go sometime. Mind you, I should really make an effort to play through some of the masses of single-player A2 missions I've downloaded ;)

only because your commanders not play right,or dont know how to play correctly. There is thing called rally point can be build and allow you spawn with squad. You only need 2 or 3 players near to make it.It give you only squad spawn and limited amount of them.

Yeah, the problem is they either pick up the rally point or there's enemies near it so I can't spawn there. I don't think the squad leaders are amateurs (they're part of a clan), it just seems to be the way it goes.
