How to Install Updates - Arma2-Reinforcements (STOCK)

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I am new to ARMA series (have heard a LOT about it :) ) and I am happy to get a copy for myself off amazon :D

I have a few queries: :)

- should I have bought ARMA2: Combined Operations instead of ARMA2- Reinforcements ? my friends told me that more people play arma2:CO instead of ARMA2:Reinforcements :( ?

I just read that arma2:CO is basically a combination of ARMA2+ARMA2:OA :) and it looks as if not really "everybody" has upgraded to Reinforcements (which is again a combination of BAF+PMC DLCs) :(

- How can I go about installing stability updates for my ARMA2: Reinforcements ?

I just saw individual updates the v.1.59 and the v.1.60 ?

Please tell me step-by-step ..like do I have to install previous updates before v.1.59? or v.1.60?

Can i directly install the v.160 update ontop of my reinforcement install?

- have I made a "mistake" by getting reinforcements? I guess I should've waited for the arma3 to release (heard its near the corner; summer 2012  ?)

Bohemia Devs..u guys rock!

Thanks,

echonyne

"You can combine RFT with A2 free to CO lite

ok.. this is my checklist for having A2 Free + ARMA2 : Reinforcements patched up together  (please correct if I am missing something)

1. install A2: Free (to separate/individual dir in "c:\arma2 free\)

1.1 activate key

1.2 update using the v.1.11 patch

2 install A2: reinforcements (to separate/individual dir in "c:\arma2 reinforcements\)

2.1 patch with update v.1.60

now what..? confused about directory installation..do i need to put them in separate directories?

And what about a combining them together? How can I launch A2: Reinforcements with the content of A2 Free? (its mentioned in wiki that even A2: Reinforcements have A2 LITE edition built-into it ..?)

final question:

Will upgrading my A2: Reinforcements with A2:Free will overwrite my existing textures?

What about the low textures/models available in A2:Free will that sill be there when I play some A2:Free SP missions/MP?

PS: i am raring to hop on the battle bus :D

Yes, you will have low res texturs on arma 2 free units, even you install with reinforcements.

And in arma 2 free you cant use user made mods/addons (campaigns/missions if they use addons) and there are great. Im not sure how it will be in your A2 CO free. I suggest to buy arma 2 co its dont cost to much now :), and you will have no problems then.

To make Arma 2+Reinforcements together:

1. Install arma2free for example in:

c:\arma2free, you can patch to v1.11 but you dont have to.

2. Install Reinforcements in the same folder c:\arma2free and patch the game to v1.60 this patch will update arma2 to v1.11, run the game use new created *.exe (dont use arma2.exe becose this will launch only A2 not A2+RFT). Go to editor check map list.

If you have: takistan, chernarus, utes, desert, shapur etc you now run arma 2 and reinforcements together. :)

Ps: Reinforcements have arma2 Op. Arrowhead lite: islands, units, vehicles etc but no missions and campaign from Op. Arrowhead
