dayglow 2 Posted June 10, 2002 I was thinking about how to improve the use of the LAW in the game as I hate the duck walk you do when the launcher is ready. My thought is when you ready the launcher you can move around as normal, ie walk, run etc. but you can't fire the LAW until you hit the crouch key and then you crouch down and bring the LAW to your shoulder to fire. So basically when you ready the LAW you sling your rifle and hold your LAW in your hands, but it isn't readied to fire until you crouch. This way you can ready the shot behind cover, then move into the open at a decent speed. Also this way no new animations are needed, just replace the rifle in your hands with the LAW and then the LAW on your shoulder when you move to fire. ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 10, 2002 that would still require animation for putting from hand to shoulder. my suggestion is that they make it so that when they run/walk, it's accuracy is so low that if fired during move, it'll most likely land in random place. that way ppl will be forced to shoot from crouching position. of course, new animations will be needed.. and i'd love to see prone as added firing position. shadow 6 Posted June 10, 2002 Duck-walk... LOL I think the biggest flaw in OFP regrading RPGs and LAWs are that you are unable to fire while lying prone or standing straight. Maybe that will be an option later on. Should'nt be much work to fix that. The animation for the legs, arms etc are all in there in different 'switchmoves'. I think you should be able to 'run' , but not 'sprint' with the tube over your shoulder. Sure, you should be able to change from rifle to LAWlauncher while you walk too. Benze 0 Posted June 10, 2002 Yeah, the duck walk annoys me to too. It's not THAT heavy...
grayghost 0 Posted June 10, 2002 If I recall correctly, firing a LAW while prone will cause you grave harm. There are few systems designed for prone firing, and most of them are fully guided anti-tank missiles like the Javelin. In fact, RL it isn't even reccomended to fire a law out of a building. shadow 6 Posted June 10, 2002 The LAW (M72) weighs less than a M16. Approx 2.4kg if I remember correctly. There is no harm in firing a LAW while standing upright or crouching. I never did fire a LAW in any of those posititions. I fired 3 live LAWs and one dummy in the position you really have to watch your feet; prone! It looks kinda weird if you watch a guy fire a LAW while he's prone but it all makes sense. You kinda lie on the side with both your legs 90 degrees to your side. This is the second most import thing to watch out for. The most important thing is ofcourse to check if someone is standing behind you If memory serves me right; there should a 25 meter clear area behind you. Other shoulder-launched weapons like a Javelin or AT4launcher requires alot larger clear area behind the launcher. In 'clear area' I'm refering to humans, not obstacles, though I'd think twice before putting my back up against a solid wall before firing the damn thingy
Benze 0 Posted June 10, 2002 Doesn't the Javelin have a kick motor so you can fire it out of buildings and in front of people?
Beagle 674 Posted June 10, 2002 I've fired the LePzfst1 fron prone position, and this weapon fires a much larger Projektile than the LAW, so I don't see a problem in firing LAWs from prone position...! BTW. the LAW in OFP is overmodelled, it shoulnt blow up APCs and especially Tanks completely
eyes 0 Posted June 10, 2002 I like DayGlows idea - realistic and more playable. It does suck not being able to move witha law out. SOmetimes you wil ready it, you target will move or you'll notice you can't hit it now you're ducked so you have to move but to do so at a decent speed you have to change back to you gun. SpaceAlex 0 Posted June 11, 2002 LAW and RPG Launchers need their own animations. The reason LAW is fired that way in OFP is Carl Gustav Launcher. That launcher is very heavy and big. That's the only reason animations for LAW are the same, i think.
