oxmox 73 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) British Porn-Filter extended by Terror & Extremism Propaganda..... UK ISPs to introduce jihadi and terror content reporting button Internet companies have agreed to do more to tackle extremist material online following negotiations led by Downing Street. The UK’s major Internet service providers – BT, Virgin, Sky and Talk Talk – have this week committed to host a public reporting button for terrorist material online, similar to the reporting button which allows the public to report child sexual exploitation. They have also agreed to ensure that terrorist and extremist material is captured by their filters to prevent children and young people coming across radicalising material. In the last four years the CTIRU has instigated the removal of over 55,000 pieces of on line content, including 34,000 pieces since December 2013. Speaking to an audience that included Australian prime minister Tony Abbott, Cameron said that he was pushing UK companies to do more “including strengthening filters, improving reporting mechanisms and being more proactive†in taking down harmful material. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/nov/14/uk-isps-to-introduce-jihadi-and-terror-content-reporting-button Chaos Computer Club (and Hackaday) Blocked By British Porn Filters The Chaos Computer Club, Europe’s largest association of hackers and hackerspaces, has been blocked by several UK ISPs as part of a government filter to block adult content. Since July 2013, a government-backed so-called opt out list censors the open internet. These internet filters, authorized by Prime Minister David Cameron, are implemented by UK’s major internet service providers (ISPs). Dubbed as the "Great Firewall of Britain", the lists block adult content as well as material related to alcohol, drugs, smoking, and even opinions deemed "extremist". [2] Users can opt-out of censorship, or bypass it by technical means, but only a minority of users know how to bypass those filters. Accessing the server directly via h**p://213.73.89.123/ currently appears to work quite well, thereby rendering the censorship efforts useless. http://hackaday.com/2014/12/06/chaos-computer-club-and-hackaday-blocked-by-british-porn-filters/ http://www.ccc.de/en/updates/2014/ccc-censored-in-uk Merkel speaks out against net neutrality Merkel said that some key services for the digital economy would require reliable transmission quality and should therefore be treated differently than other data. At the Vodafone-hosted Digitising Europe conference in Berlin, she called for a splitting of services, "one for free internet, and the other for special services", adding that it was up to Brussels to negotiate how it would work. "The revolutionary thing about the web is that the content can be decided on by anyone and, the principle of it, is that anyone can access it. But if you poke holes into net neutrality the way Chancellor Merkel suggests, then it's no longer democratic," he said. http://www.thelocal.de/20141204/merkel-speaks-out-against-net-neutrality Edited December 6, 2014 by oxmox
