Patrol Operations 2

Very very entertaining mission, have done a great job,

but I have a problem when I load a container on a truck, always load the two containers stacked in the same truck, I should do so only load one of the containers.

I can not find the containers with radiotowers to deploy them.

Would it be possible to add lives as an amount to the mission ?

Also could you add the same for halo drops ?

As a parameter say 5, 10, 15, 20, 50, unlimited

Atm I notice that when we play we mostly just halo onto the targets as its the fastest if we had only a certain amount of halos we wouldn't

We also seem to not bother healing as re-spawn and halo is faster than healing most of the time. Once again a set amount of lives in a pool of lives would stop that I think.

Any way just a suggestion and happy Xmass

Hey M4RT14L,

Don't quite understand what your getting at with the loading of containers but one truck should only be able to hold one contianer. The radio tower container is created at the "return point" marker at base and then should be transported to the destination.

Thats some great feedback. i was thinking about adding lives options but hadn't considered limitations around halo and its effects on game play. I'll look at adding a system around that into the next release.

Seeing your answer, I understand that perhaps it may be a bug in a file of the mission? ...

whenever I create a server that mission happens to me when I have the same load a container, always load the two that are stacked ....

may need to create the same in the return point.

There are some manual disponoble Patrol OPS2 game??

Ive have been looking through the contentpacks on dev heaven, shouldnt there be some config files for changing what weapons that are default in the ammobox in the base and what weapons get assigned on ranked servers? ive been trying to port patrolops2 to the SFP mod and got most of it working but not 100% functionality on the weaponassignment.

Yep, this is handled in the config_armoury.sqf script in the mps config folder.

yeah, figured it out eventually, think i got a nice working version of patrol ops takistan south running with sfp weapons and units.

ran a 20man coop for a couple of hours tonight, was a blast :D

Ok so i got a SFP version running fine on takistan. Now im trying to port it over to lingor SFP_SWE as player units, ibr_arl_faction as enemy. Problem is that i get no enemy spawning around the objectives, assigned ibr_arl_faction in the init_mps.sqf as east.

Read something on the wiki about "Supported MODS" does that mean that enemy is hardcoded in the scripts or is it just to add under mps/config/config_addons and my enemies will show up.

I honestly don't know where to go at this point. I'm trying to make a version for my mates at TF86, but the game CTDs either within seconds. I have the mission open in the editor, but once I preview it, the game usually crashes within seconds on Takistan during the intro, and seconds after the intro sequence on Zargabad. And thats while running the original mission, no changes. I've even gone through and deleted a lot of the props from the base just to ensure its not the high model count killing my CPU, yet it still crashes. I've even disabled the intro and it still crashes within seconds. If I set up the preload manager it simply won't load, the loading bar stops at ~90% and never loads except on one occasion where none of the textures or models were fully loaded and it CTD within a few seconds.

Always CTD, never hangs.

I'm not running any other mods other than ACE and ACRE.

First forgive me if I post something which is Just a fault on my part and not the mission its because im a noob :)

Me and my clan m8s have been playing this with ACE alot

here is what I have for feedback atm..

1: AIR drop doesnt seem to work for us Here is what we do

We have air drop param enabled and Air lift param enabled

We pick up the MHQ with the chinook then get high alt and drop

when we drop the MHQ it vanishes (so does any other vehicle we use)

Placing it on the ground at low alt works ok though its just the air drop

2: I see a huntir round but i see no Huntir monitor ??

3: we have to play with ace wounds off because when we turn on ace

wounds if we get injured we are placed underground and become hidden

from all other players and when maybe someone revives us by finding our tag

on screen. We are half in the ground .. maybe a conflict between the two injury systems ?

4: the MG gunner has a gun in his selction which is the M240L it doesnt seem the have any rounds available for it maybe we are doing something wrong ?

Some more things happen but that just could be because we are new to ACE and most are new to arma2

the AI dont repond with a radio if we have recruit ai on ? (maybe this is an ace thing i dont know)

I disabled the halo drop myself in the end to stop the bad habbit of respawn and halo to enemy

A request again would be to add a param if posible to increase the difficulty of the Ambient : insurgents ?

Also could you make it so if a player isnt there we can turn on an AI to replace him ? so rather than using recruit ai we would be using teams as layed out in the lobby ? or is that not possible ?

Also Is every Ace weapon and Item in the mission ? if not could it be ?

I really enjoy the mission and have spent ages playing it

PS : One other thing is If you have class retriction on you can just get ai and get them to use any vehicle you want is this supposed to be like that or was it an oversight ? A work around might be to alow only same class ai for same class player and restricting the ai`s ability to use vehicles aswell ?

Enemy unit classes and factions are set in mps\config\config_addons. If there are no configs for the unit faction, there will be no units spawning.

Currently Supported Factions by default are listed at Patrol Ops Sides. There are more to come.

Hi USRanger,

This is weird. I've never seen this issue before and at a loss as what could be the cause. There are so many potential causes of this, none of which I can explain in the actual mission file as alot of others have had no issue with extracting and modifing. Maybe the file you downloaded and extracted has been corrupted? Try a fresh download, use the BIS pbo packer to extract the files and boot up with no mods, just vanilla combined ops only and go from there. PM me for further troubleshooting.

SUMMARISED AS: ALOT OF FEEDBACK

- MHQ has been known to occasionally "DROP" at position [0,0] which is the bottom left of the map. Working on a fix.

- ACE wounds in Patrol Ops is a bit of a hit n' miss on it working properly. I've found a better way to implement it and am currently testing it for the next release.

- Alot of the ACE gear is still yet to be added as i'm planning how it would affect the gameplay. Not all gear is added as it would overcrowd the ammobox and players would spend too long choosing the gear.

- AI won't be class restricted as to allow one player to create a team and able to insert them via any method without the need for other players.

- AI in the lobby is not on by default and will remain as such, however this can be easily changed in the description.ext file by changing DisabledAI to FALSE

There will be more updates soon but i'm delayed due to the christmas break and work commitments. Keep an eye on the DEV-Heaven Project to track the progress.

We narrowed down some of the cause of the MHQ drop problem

here is what we know :-

If there are 2 players on the server for example

and player 1 takes the mhq and moves it into a pick up location

player 2 is in the chopper and lifts the mhq.. the mhq if dropped from air drop will vanish..

But if player 1 moves the mhq and also then lifts it using the chopper then the mhq will drop as expected..

maybe something to do with vehicle ownership ?

excellent mission, both to actually play and to look in the folders. Liked how you made it possible to use it for your own mission but with the patrol stuff as a framework. Excellent :)

I tried to customize this mission a bit to add an addon pack, I was successfull with 2.00 but in 2.02 it doesn't seem to work properly.

I've addeed two files

mps\config\config_addons\config_vehicles_my_vehicles.sqf

mps\config\config_addons\config_vehicles_my_units.sqf

both following the scheme of default files then added

#include "config_addons\config_vehicles_my_vehicles.sqf"

to mps\config\config_addons\config_vehicles.sqf and

#include "config_addons\config_units_my_units.sqf"

to mps\config\config_addons\config_units.sqf . It doesn't work, units won't show up in recruitment list when recruiting AI and vechicles just crash the game. Removing the vehicles script the game runs fine but I can't use cargo function and such.

I recommend, with building a whole additional config for a mod, to start testing with a single vehicle and unit and test from there, not all at once.

double check that each array is finished with a comma except the last one. Your unit config you posted up is an example of by commenting out, your last array will break the script due to the comma at the end of the pilots.

Try This in each:

if your 1st test vehicle doesn't work PM me. Make sure you have debugging on so you will see if there are any script errors. Also make sure your faction SIDE_A is set as "PedagneMOD" in init_mps.sqf

Awesome mission, congrats.

First played online yesterday and we had plenty of fun.

Those IEDs kept the whole team in good shape for the whole action, thanks.

Love the game, just a few bugs:

* Objectives completeing themselves (capture the town notably or clear the insurgent camp notably).

* Target names or town names are blank on the task objective.

* Multiple Objectives load (might not be a bug, we had the "Capture" objective load, then another rescue pilot mission. Wasn't sure if the Capture mission was a ongoing one since we have to collect intel to find him while completing other objectives).

* No OPFOR at objective (most notably the rescue POW or Pilot missions).

* Pilot at Faruz Abad spawns inside the wall, glitched so bad he died second time we encountered the mission there.

* Killing civilians causes severe desync.

* Civilian Vehicles and people spawn in the airport/base.

A few notes: there seems to be a lack of bad guys to kill. We have the ambient insurgent param turned on, but not really much going on. There is, however, plenty of air contacts if we turn that param on. Otherwise, we spend the first five missions rescuing POWs and Pilots with only encountering OPFOR at the "destroy comms tower" objective.

Also, I has hoping your solution for mission failure for killing civilians would work, but it seems it has the exact same problems I've been having when combining a similar script with the ALICE module: severe server lag and desync. Immediately upon killing a civilian we all get broken red chain, whether its our dedicated server, or one of us is running the mission over the net.

I love your attention to detail and the FOB you made, but there simply is just too much stuff, and it horribly lags up the server. I deleted most of the stuff and immediately saw 20+ better frames per second (went from ~20 up to 40 to 50 fps at the FOB).

Otherwise its good stuff, keep up the good work!

I would like to make ranking take longer

Normally Im rank major after 1 mission or captain at least

I saw this script "mps_func_rank_system"

Which has this line _values = [0,500,1500,2500,3500,5000,7500];

I tried altering the _values to higher amounts but came across some problems :( ( you would rank up then down while killing enemys )

are there some other scripts which need altering to make ranking up harder ?

Hello again :)

I found a small oversight I think

The ammo trucks come with a Maaws plus ammo. no matter your class or rank you can equip with them..

Also as an at soldier when using ace there is no Maaws ammo in the gear crate

I fixed it by removing the ammo trucks and replacing the maaws with the Smaw. for our server

I also added rank to the following powerfull vehicles Hmmv MK19, hmmv TOW, Stryker MC, Avengers , Little bird with weapons.

Would be nice if it was posible to prevent players from swapping weapons somehow but i think that is imposible.

For example i have herd people on our server ask for a sniper to give them a sniper gun from the gear or place something they cannot get because of class into a vehicle for them.

If there was a way to make it so they cannot carry weapons that they are not classed for that would be cool :)

Ps if you want to see what a mess ive made to your mission

You can get it on the server called "25ID Server-UK- =ACE ON= =Acre ON="

Its the default mission on a dedicated home server its only a 40MB down and 10MB so dont expect lighting fast connection :)

RE: Civillians killed handler, i've noticed the same thing since 1.60. I'm yet to test this without the handlers but i may just remove them

RE Base Layout, totally agree. Very detailed but ultimatley not ideal as the objects and their positions when syncing between clients and server cause alot of lag. This will be fixed in 2.03

I'll add a variable that will handle the difficulty of how to rank up. the current script is not designed to take this requirement into account.

Nope, Work and Family are a priority but it will be released with 2.03. No ETA but not too long now.

some vehicles have default gear inside them. Allows units to have limited AT on requirement even when there is no AT units.

I was looking through the mission tasks and types and I saw 3 missions which are not included in the params

SAD_convoy

SAD_convoy2

and

DEF_town

can I add them myself for our server or do the missions not work ?
