Downloading the Full game - Sprocket

Recommended Posts

Hiya everyone.

I am now d/ling the pre-release beta of the game from Sprocket as I type this ~ 46%.

Whilst it is downloading obviously I am / was thinking about stuff, you know stuff like why do we have eyebrows and other things...

1 thing did pop into my mind however. Once the full game becomes available will the pre-release beta automatically update or will I need to go back to Sprocket and download the full game?

Obviously the Steam version will automatically update I think.

Oh and is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

You will be downloading the full game once it comes out - there is no update from beta to full, unfortunately. And from what I remember, the full game will be a whopping 20GB. :o

9.7GB took me 2 hours!! So, by that reckoning just over 4 hours, damn!!!

nope

The servers will be f****** overloaded and stressed out, as always, when a BIS product gets released.

It was painful to watch PMC (820+ MB) taking 10 hrs to download

(Nemesis, i might be playing too much Red Orchestra, but does that say Reichs University??)

Yeah, I hope BIS will be providing sufficient bandwidth on launch, aswell as a pre-load of the data so we can start playing from the word go. If the game is downloading at just ~200kb/s it will take almost 30 hours. :(

No need to promise. :)

A: They can withhold the game executable (which is comparatively small) until the actual moment of release.

B: The activation servers can deny service until the moment of release.

Yes, I hope they buy/rent some extra resources for the first few days on launch, with extra mirrors and hopefully even a pre-load a few days before release.

A cheecky little sprocket preload would be nice as my Virgin Broadband internet likes to throttle back and I end up waiting a while before I can play.

Virgin Broadband. Unlimited my arse.

Maybe they could get a torrent going and see how that works? Took me ages to download the beta, with the atrocious speed I was getting from sproket.

There are two ways how we plan to improve Sprocket release:

* preloading of large data about 48 hours before the release

* added bandwith to the distribution servers is arranged

* improved redirection to best server for everyone

I see what you did there... Now you have to go to the back of the line for trolling the CEO!

Maybe Maruk will give a select group access to the download a day before release? That would be pretty freaking sweet.

- Baah just read Maruk said what they are doing - ignore this.

This is a good idea and I should be the first person to get access to it a day early. Why? Why not?

Are we still getting a preload? If so how close are we to being able to download it?

Cheers Ash
