Patch 1.60 - The Good News and The Bad News

Recommended Posts

I know what I would like to have: Object View Distance slider. But somehow I think that the Devs are not Fans of this Idea...

I would like that too.

Warping is all but taken care of BTW in the latest betas.

Kind of a weird necro for this thread...

In regards to Object View Distance, it would have to be a server-side thing, as obviously it would create an unfair advantage in MP for some players. I'd love to have it, but...just saying.

I think they will do it when they finish the list. There are still some very important Tickets there

Of course. But note that there are only two items left there, one of which (the invisible tracers bug) seems fairly trivial.

The full patch definitely seems to be getting closer. :)

v1.60 patch is for OA, unless it also contains an A2 patch (which is common though I think), there should be no A2 content fixes included.

Also be warned - unless it has changed - Unlike the Betas, you must reinstall the whole game if you install the RC, and later want to upgrade to the final patch. Unless you are lucky that the final patch has not changed since the RC ;)

Of course you can backup your current game files etc before applying the RC.

I wish BIS would release a standalone A2 content beta patch (or an OA beta that contains the A2 fixes) prior to the RC patch! Many important A2 fixes have been made that I'd like to test without having to hassle with the RC.

Sickboy now people are afraid of the evil RC which can cause big trouble to their current "stable" A2OA installs. You know how to scare them off!! :p:D

Better safe than sorry right. Intent wasn't so much scaring people off, but making them aware of this and take measures (aka backup their folders), as opposed to (again): "OMG COULDNT YOU TELL USSSSS, NOW HAVE TO REINSTALL F'ING GAME!!111one" :D

I wouldn't say that's a "Must have" or a gamebreaking issue.
Perhaps it's more a Must have in the MP Scene, and then more specifically the PvP scene..

I think we can expect a 1.60RC patch rather soon (also to contain significant A2 content fixes :)).

http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2051866&postcount=57

But I think this one is very important and needs a fix before patch release:

http://dev-heaven.net/issues/24177

Yeah, that would be a good one to fix before 1.60. I'm guessing it should just be a config file issue, right?

I hope that patch comes with a "warning_read_the_log" embedded in the filename. Sounds kinda awful if someone doesn't pay attention (like, it's only luck that I read this now, as I don't follow this thread) and have to reinstall the whole game. I haven't even verified for quite some time that the DVD even still works.

For some of the multiplayer PvP scenarios the bug is a gamebreaking issue.

To be perfectly honest, it doesn't look that game-breaking to me from your screenshots. And it's not accurate to say it's an "orange suit"...only the skin on the face/hands seems to show up as orange, which from a large distance is not all that distinguishable, anyway.

I'm not saying it's something that shouldn't be fixed, but I wouldn't postpone 1.60 for it.

If you want stuff from TKOH, buy TKOH :) (and perhaps ArmA 3)

I have bought TKOH, and will buy ArmA3 :) I just think, and this is totally IMO..a feature(Fast Roping) that should have been in ArmA2/OA from the get go! And most of the stuff in TKOH has been asked for and in some cases, begged for... since OFP! I am not trying to sound greedy, It was more of a simple question...maybe more of a wishing?

Anyhow, can not wait for this next patch, hope there is more then just the warping issue fixed/added!

Dave,

Try CTF KnD Level Up. Nobody takes the west officer slot because everyone who has played it knows how it ends ;)

I haven't said anything about postponing 1.60. Rush is not a good way if you want something to be done properly.

I haven't said anything about postpoining anything but is there any problem for you to postpone the patch for a few next days while we have been waiting for it for such a long time? Rush is not a good way if you want something to be done properly.

C'mon, do you ever play russians in OA? All old ArmA II models light up plain bright white in TI...you know how this ends. That's far worse because you can not simply choose a "camoX" or black face in your user profile. Edited by Beagle

This needs fixing. Sadly BIS doesn´t seem to have the time for it...

TI is an OA feature, content fixes for A2 (Standalone) were afaik long closed already.

Well, many A2 content fixes have recently been made, mainly by Jezuro

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=125190

and will apparently be included in 1.60RC

http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2051866&postcount=57

Are you saying that these fixes will not work for A2 standalone, just for CO?

Well first off I'd say that Mission fixes are different from other content (data) fixes.

Second I think that "Applying TI maps to models", aka adding new features, is not a fix, but rather an upgrade :P

Third I think that they might even not be able to add TI maps to the models, if the models need to remain compatible with A2 original, unless A2 would be adjusted for it etc. Sounds quite far fetched.

I think we will see MLOD's for A2 Standalone and maybe even OA at some point - this would be an excellent moment for the community to step up and apply the TI maps.

As to the inclusion of A2 (Standalone) mission fixes, I have commented before, such fixes should not be included in the patch of OA itself,

but perhaps the OA patch will include an A2 (standalone) patch with mentioned fixes - which then should also be released seperately (I think we've seen this before).

This is all based on what history tells us, of course things can change, and otherwise .. "exceptions confirm the rule" (Dutch saying direct translation).

And to answer the question specifically; the A2 mission fixes should work just fine on A2 Standalone (no need for OA/CO).
