LOD Lag/Texture Rendering [URGENT]

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Recently every single time I play ARMA, after a while my game stops rendering properly and I drop down to around 6fps which just makes it completely unplayable. Flushing usually fixes the problem for around 5-10mins, then it happens again and after that flushing does nothing. I've checked my CPU and GPU temps whilst playing and they are all normal and my RAM usage is around 70%. I havent changed anything since it started happening and it happens with my graphics settings both high and low.

I've uploaded a few screenshots so you know what I mean:

PC Specs:

i5 760 2.8Ghz @ 3.6ghz

4GB Corsair DDR3 RAM

EVGA nVidia 450GTS

Windows 7 32bit

Any ideas guys? Apart from buying new hardware? :(

what game version (a2/OA and its version). Any addons? etc...

I would backup my arma2.cfg and delete it, allowing the game to make a new one. The video memory should be better detected this days (and should stay on default btw).\

I haven't encounter such problems myself, so it is really hard to find your culprit (especially since you are saying this is out of the blue behaviour your having).

What is your GFX memory set at in the graphics options, if at default set it to high or at a lower setting and give that a shot?

I've tried both default and very high (I have a 1GB gfx card) and the problem still persists.

I asked for help in another forum, no solution.

I´ve the same problem like you and dont know how to fix it.

Since Arrowhead (maybe 1.59) the texture and lod is completly miserable and bugged as hell.

Video - This is really really extrem and unplayable :/.

you have a 1GB card with 128bit bus... Lower your REZ and settings, or buy new HW.

Yes, possible.

And how?

If I start the beta exe there are no mods listed unter expansion.

Because u need to load the mods using a launcher or the modline as usual! Just that beta uses the arma2oa.exe inside /expansion/beta.

How are u loading the mods w/o the beta now?

Use this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=81060 or http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=89731

I tested it with 5(!) Beta Patches from new to old.

The problem still exist!

The textures and Lod ist terrible like shown in the video.

Man this sucks so hard, Vanilla Arma 2 run perfectly...

@azz

I don´t have ACRE installed and never heard of JayArma2Lib.

But I´ve the problem without Mods too :(.

It´s really nice to play Arma 2 with Ultra low textures..not.

It's really fun to try to help without even knowing what hardware you use, which driver versions and so on.....not.

E8400@3.55Ghz

6GB DDR2 800mhz

4870@512Vram

Newest ATI Driver (But I tried so many older ones).

But come on, it doesnt really matter which Hardware I use...there a plenty of other people with the same bug.

Maybe you´ve a clue to fix this? As I said: I tried EVERYTHING from reinstalling W7,Drivers,Arma, patches, Configs, startparameter etc etc.

The last thing I don´t tested is to take one Ram slot out and try it with 4 GB.

Texture Detail = very high

Video memory = very high

Anisotropic filter = very high

Mate, you're overloading your 4870/512 by far. Put these settings back to Normal. Also check temps of the GPU while playing.

I´m not that stupid. :D

I changed the graphic options hundred of times and tried every possible combination.

This is why I´m so helpless..As said, I recognized the bug since Arrowhead (1.59?)

Before this, Arma run without this bug.

The hardware never reach high temps.

I've never said you're stupid, if it sounded like this i'm sorry.

I can only judge by what i know and see and in the vid you linked those settings where on very high, so that's where i based my advice upon. This shows why it is important to give as much info as possible. A very good source would be a dxdiag.txt file to look at aswell the rpt files, although the latter in this case is of low importance i think.

Besides that, i know that CO actually can run without these bugs as i play regulary and i never saw this bug on my side. Not helpful i know but it shows that there must be a solution we just have to find.

Sadly the only thing that comes to mind is, did you already tried to delete arma2.cfg and arma2oa.cfg and let the game create them new?

Two things i see there (altough i don't know if it is related, just pointing to take everything into account):

Your DXDiag:

DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit Unicode

Mine:

DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 64bit Unicode

Looks odd since i have a older Windows version than you (i have Vista x64) so theoretically if there would be a difference, IMHO your version number should be higher than mine.

And the second thing:

Driver File Version: 8.17.0010.1086 (English)

Driver Date/Size: 7/8/2011 05:28:26, 814592 bytes

Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1091 (English)

Driver Date/Size: 7/28/2011 23:39:14, 852992 bytes

here i'm almost sure that it is unrelated.

One thing that comes to mind: ArmA 2 is a DX9 game, did you ever installed the latest version of DX9?

I know you have DX11 but this has nothing to do as DX11 doesn't include DX9 files.
