Multi-Session Operations v3.45 released

I read it's possible to run MSO missions as "singleplayer" (LAN, etc) BTW I've tried several times and it looks like it doesn't work for me.

here is what I do:

unpack the pob, replace the mission.sqm with one I created (all significant objects included such as HQ etc etc) save and run as LAN game.

I only have ArmA 2, so my question is: is MSO compatible with vanilla game?

what else is needed?

I read CBA is needed, no problem I've it, used it during test, no effect.

Make sure you aren't using any modules that try to spawn OA stuff.... Check if you are getting any errors related to missing OA units!

Make script errors show on screen: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters (though in your case it's probably "missing class" errors which show on your screen with a message box anyway).

i have a problem with JIP markers. They will sometimes not even work from the beginning and sometimes they work just right after start of the server, but after i disconnect and reconnect they will not work.

The ones i added before i disconnect is still working, but i cant add any other.

using ACE and A2/OA and MSO WICT 3.45.561

hey frosties!

do they work if you place em with the context menu? (right beside rightern windows-button). I couldnt reproduce it in vanilla yet (also working after reconnecting).

Lupo, MSO 3.45 requires Combined Operations (Arma 2 + OA) + CBA still. I'm quite sure, you could make it Arma 2 (only)-compatible but its much work, since you would have to go thru the errors that most likely will occur.

In your case, I would wait for the "Arma 2-free"-release the team is working on (i think and hope they still work on it)!

thank you very much! I had just a look at the code and it looked like a real pain to convert it, at least right now, since I'm busy with other tasks and can only afford minor mission editing.

as far as you know, does the developing team care to keep the mission easily compatible with non standard units so that addon use is easier ?

I realise it's pretty easy to set friendly forces, but what about enemy ones? and irregulars? civilians?

It would be a little strange to meet NAPA on Duala or even eastern Europe civilian when Duala pack provides everything needed in that world.

anyway for the records, missions run just fine as long you don't expect MSO to do anything, no error pops up while in game, missions run just like there was no MSO in them.

@highead: Havent tried that.

When im clicking ALT+Left mouse it wont work, that i do know.

Another question:

Im looking into the option of having each soldier being able to raise a tent and "sign-in" to it and spawn there after getting killed.

BUT, Is there a way to clear that spawn, or to change the sign-in to the base if you need to get back?

Or can somebody assist me with adding an option to select where to spawn using R3F Revive or something?

I dont always want to bring the LAV with me, instead just being able to HALO to a location and set up a small camps with tents and backpacks.

Going to use this option on the tent.

(Can somebody help me how i can get that into the INIT of the spawned tent?)

No i cannot add JIP markers on the map with any other way other the the map.

usually after a fresh restart the JIP markers are working, but after i have disconnected and connected again they will not work...

have tried several times now...

sry frosties, i dont get it!

what happens if you open to the context menu (by pressing the list button) - nothing? Doesn't it open a menu?

I could once reproduce it but only with shift and alt + click (context menu did always work for me)!

GRRRR... So i'm edditing mso to fit on celle. After I added all the locations to spawn in I'm getting this error in a totally different folder. It hangs when I'm trying to initialize.

Also yes I have use the same locations for other variable names. Ive found that works fine and save lots of time.

Figured Ill give out my hellskitchen version also... I suggest playing it on 33% to 66% enemy pop. search with choppers and kill from the ground. Its totally less crazy from the air for w/e reason but youll definately get shot at up there.

Sleep, where does it hang? In init locations or ctp?

If its ctp try to disable it (by commenting out the specific lines in modules.hpp) and set debug mode in fn_initlocations.sqf to true and see what happens!

3 things that could cause fn_initlocs to not work correctly:

1. Yu have negative values in y-coordinates.

2. I see comment-chars /* that may have not been closed/deleted

3. To write all loctions in one line could cause the file to not be read correctly cuz it could be truncated after 1024 chars

Dunno exactly but try that!

hmm Might possibly be that I have those long lines without dropping a line. Is this something new or was I always making this mistake?

Just tested your lingor locations with our addons and scripts.... seems to work great thanks. Hopefully others will post their working locations so we can at least get a working standard for enemy pops on most islands!

also cant confirm this, just saw lines clipped in notepad and read something about length of lines.

also glad it worked out, just take care and put in your own locations - each isle is different

MSO is indeed being worked on by Wolffy and the team. Recent efforts have included a completely addon free version for ArmA2Free and a TvT version so you can enjoy all the goodness of MSO modules and Nomad from both sides. Meanwhile, Highhead has done some great work porting into various maps and implementing WICT as an option for the enemy module.

The guys are working on ironing out bugs and optimising code with a view to stabilising performance for long term play, so you can expect to see some updates in due course.

Does it work if I launch it in Single Player?

It does work, cause thats the way I test it - but - if you run it as a hosted game, you have access to all the mission parameters to change some of the settings.

i hope you seen the WICT module, would be cool if you could implement it in next release - if its ok for arm2holic (what i believe is, if we ask him nicely). Ported it to a clean MSO module, so should be easy to deliver

Yeah, I was asking that exact same question on Skype yesterday.

PM me a link of your module and try to get permission and we'll put it into the dev version for testing.

yes it is completely ok, just provide link somewhere to original tool, that is easy... however I am thinking about refining my tool, to make it more simple with a lot of default settings, but to maintain possibilities for programmers...

should be available by the end of the year...

Hmm. I wanted to put rmm_cnstrct into my own mission, but ran into difficulties.

I moved the folder hierarchy (support\modules\rmm_cnstrct and support\scripts) over into my mission. Then I updated the .ext with

#ifdef RMM_CNSTRCT
#include <support\modules\rmm_cnstrct\functions.hpp>
#endif

and the modules.hpp (which is in the main folder) by adding

#define RMM_CNSTRCT

In the editor, I find a vehicle and give it

0 = this execVM "support\modules\rmm_cnstrct\addAction.sqf"; this setvariable  ["cnstrct_supplies",600000]; if (isnil "supply_crates") then { supply_crates=[];}; supply_crates set [count supply_crates, this];

The addAction shows up ("construction"), but when I click it nothing happens. I'm running this in the editor and with ShowScriptErrors on, but nothing is popping up.

Any ideas at all?
