Mister Frag 0 Posted December 12, 2001 I just found this on CNN: Australian SAS troops, with faces obscured, pictured close to the action in Afghanistan That's a long-wheelbase Land Rover Defender with a heavy machine gun for the gunner, and another machine gun for the front passenger (on the left -- crazy Brits!). Next to it is a six-wheeled ATV. The Defender is either a D110, or possibly a six-wheeled version. I could swear that there is a second left rear tire visible. quickdraw_01 4 Posted December 12, 2001 Yeah cool looking vehicles can support them for up to 2 weeks apparently. That picture was on the front page of the papers here in Australia.
King Kong 0 Posted December 12, 2001 What about those dirt bikes the SAS used in Gulf War.
Satchel 0 Posted December 12, 2001 We already have jeeps, 3 different types to be exact. Instead i would love to see a 250cc Motocross bike, which we have none of yet, instead of a jeep overkill.
Mister Frag 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Sorry, I should clarify my position here. I don't think we need another light vehicle with a machine gun in the current campaign, but I think this would be cool to have in a Desert Storm MOD.
ACT SMILEY 0 Posted December 13, 2001 LR110 !!! The 110 has 9-10 (depending on the over-the-gearstick-miniseat) seats so its practical in comparison to a Hummvee And you could do army 110 hard-top soft-top and top-down with gun. Those things are great. A mate of mine's got a B reg (thats '84 btw) Defender 110 thats done 400,000 miles and its going strong.
