Stray Bullet 10 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) I've been trying to get through the Manhattan mission for about 4 hours now and all I've been able to achieve is to report to Shaftoe. Lagushina doesn't show up anywhere, although I think I've seen her car abandoned in Krastonstav. Same thing with the weapon smuggler - I found a white '"Coyota" pickup parked there but it never moves and nobody is around. The towns are almost all completely deserted for that matter. Where the Insurgent camps supposedly are is all abandoned... I did manage to do the mission where the one guy's house gets blown up when you're on your way there to arrest him, but that's it. I get shot at every now and then and occasionally see a few bad guys running around but that's about it. I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time now even trying. All I've been doing is driving all over the place hoping for something to happen but it never does. Plus I read in a bug list somewhere that the Manhattan mission can be impossible to complete due to script bugs so I wonder if that's what's going on here. Anything I should try or something obvious that I'm overlooking? I'm playing Arma 2 in "Combined Operations" mode, Steam version, with the latest patch. Thanks. :) Edited June 22, 2011 by Stray Bullet
Maciek95PL 10 Posted June 22, 2011 I've stopped on this mission too. I guess it is possible to finish it, but you need a LOT of patience.
Jezuro 452 Posted June 24, 2011 All campaign missions should be finishable in the latest version. - Lagushina is following her daily routine (check Notes in your diary), part of which is visiting the church in Krasnostav. She should be hanging around there. - There are always some civilians in the towns, they tend to stay inside when it's raining or there is some fighting going on. - You can get more information on the sentry camps from certain locals you meet on the road. If you stumple upon an obvious bug, or are unable to finish a mission, please let us know in the A2/OA official missions section here: http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Stray Bullet 10 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the replies, everyone. :) Thank you too for the information, Jezuro. Arma 2 (through Steam) just automatically downloaded a 92 MB update for me, so I assume that's the patch you refer to? Anyway, I'm going to start it all over again from the Beginning of Manhattan and see if I have better luck this time. I read all the Notes and everything else and tried to find Lagushina, but as I said, nobody was around. I think something just bugged out for me. There were barely any people around at all, actually, and the ones I did see weren't talking. Everything was fine up until after the house bomb. Anyway, it's a whole lot of fun, so it's no big deal trying it again. I love this game. :) I'll be sure to check out your link and report anything specific. Right now I'm pretty new to this so I have to admit I don't really know what's what yet with the missions. EDIT: I started over and manged to finish every mission, except for finding the gunrunners. That mission was canceled by command though, I think probably because I found the Chedaki base before getting around to it. I was told that someone else took care of it. I did everything else though, including finding all the sentry camps, so I guess the new patch worked. :) Edited June 26, 2011 by Stray Bullet
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 26, 2011 I did manage to do the mission where the one guy's house gets blown up when you're on your way there to arrest him, but that's it. I didn't even think this one was completable. Been a long time. Will try a run on that campaign again.
Stray Bullet 10 Posted June 26, 2011 I didn't even think this one was completable. Been a long time. Will try a run on that campaign again. You can find a lot of posts claiming that Manhattan frequently isn't able to be completed. I think I was heading in that direction before starting over. Apparently the AI bugs out and some key characters get lost... But I started over and all went according to plan the second time around.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) No, I didn't mean the mission, but that particular objective (arrest the dude). His house is always blown up when I get close, and usually the culprit goes with it. I must be lucky, because I have never had extreme problems completing the mission. That being said, something unusual happened in my current playthrough. The Mi24 HIND that is sent to pickup Lagushina spotted the enemy base and completely obliterated it :D So this time I never had to do the base thing. If there are AA guys in the base, maybe they open up on the HIND but now with countermeasures it survives? I've never seen it attack the base before though. Suffice to say, I giggled all the way back to base, and this remains my favorite mission in the campaign. This one and Razor Two - another run around mission that not completely focuses on the fight. Hanzu 10 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Since we are not in OFFICIAL MISSIONS subforum, I put on spolier tags. Lagushina doesn't show up anywhere, although I think I've seen her car abandoned in Krastonstav. In the end of Manhattan mission Lagushina is found at Gvozdno standing northeast side of the red brick building at GPS COORS 085034. Before that she can be seen standing in front of Krasnostav church or walking between Krasnostav and Gvozdno. She always leaves her car in Krasnostav (obviously she doesn't know how to reverse car). Never seen her in Olsha like notes say. Same thing with the weapon smuggler - I found a white '"Coyota" pickup parked there but it never moves and nobody is around. The towns are almost all completely deserted for that matter. In mission start the Smugglers come to Gvozdno center from south and stay there for awhile. The second smuggler go on his own path somewhere there, but he has no importance. The main smuggler continues to drive all they way to northwest corner of the map around northwestern airfield. Eventually he will run out of gas and just sits there moving the wheel. There are similar white pickups in many places in this mission, so do not get fooled by that. Where the Insurgent camps supposedly are is all abandoned... I can't understand this. Did you really check all 6 enemy sentry camps and understand enemy can leave the camp and hide prone near it. Only the first 4 you find will be marked on map. The last 2 will not show up as green markers in map after 4 are cleared, but they still exist. So you can actually choose those that are closest to your path or those which ones are easiest to clear. Sometimes friendly USMC troops clear one for you too (the one in northeast radio tower hill). All enemy sentry camps have some tents. All of them have one soldier carrying AA weapon, so do not go flying near them. Main enemy camp is not counted as one of them like said in some old posts. Main enemy camp is actually seventh camp. I have coordinates for all sentry camps if someone still says they are abandoned. I did manage to do the mission where the one guy's house gets blown up when you're on your way there to arrest him, but that's it. Not mission but objective. Actually that one didn't do - it just gets cancelled, because villager kills Nikolayev (another villager you are supposed to capture) with a bomb that triggers always when you approach Khelm village from any direction. I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time now even trying. All I've been doing is driving all over the place hoping for something to happen but it never does. I would say you were wasting your time just because not trying hard enough. :) Plus I read in a bug list somewhere that the Manhattan mission can be impossible to complete due to script bugs so I wonder if that's what's going on here. Anything I should try or something obvious that I'm overlooking? Yes. Do not read old posts about bugs thinking like it is all true still. Maybe 10% of those bugs are still there. Thanks for the replies, everyone. :)I read all the Notes and everything else and tried to find Lagushina, but as I said, nobody was around. I think something just bugged out for me. There is no such bug. You just didn't look for Lagushina in the right places. There were barely any people around at all, actually, and the ones I did see weren't talking. Everything was fine up until after the house bomb. You just wasted valuable time by going to least important Arrest Nikolayev objective first leave it as one of the last ones. During that time spent in there Lagushina and Smugglers are in still in easy to find places in Gvozdno - Krasnostav area. I started over and manged to finish every mission, except for finding the gunrunners. That mission was canceled by command though, I think probably because I found the Chedaki base before getting around to it. I was told that someone else took care of it. This has never happened to me, but it is possible, even when someone else takes out smuggler/gun-runner, you should still search body to get Insurgent the safehouse objective and evidence from there. I did everything else though, including finding all the sentry camps Nope. You probably missed Insurgent the safehouse objective and the evidence. :) I didn't even think this one was completable. Been a long time. Will try a run on that campaign again. No it is not completable like most are it will just be cancelled by HQ when you try to complete it. Just like: Into the Storm objective Direct the airstike Harvest Red objective Transfer captives Bitter Chill objective Reach USMC positions You can find a lot of posts claiming that Manhattan frequently isn't able to be completed. I think I was heading in that direction before starting over. Apparently the AI bugs out and some key characters get lost... Again not true. No AI character has ever disappeared from the map in my knowledge only Prizrak disappears to thin air in Badlands after discussion and if you decide not to eliminate him. In Manhattan nothing disappears, it is just the players that got lost. Suffice to say, I giggled all the way back to base, and this remains my favorite mission in the campaign.. I have read this happening to someone else too. I think it happens because helicopter AI has been tweaked so much in latest patches and it actually knows now how to fly and fight better without crashing to ground, trees or hills. So it just makes a decision to attack enemies on its own. Really nice feature indeed. Actually its not taking a risk either since enemy main camp has no AA, but sentry camps have always one AA Specialist, so actually sentry camps are more dangerous to that Mi-24 CDF or Star Force 21. For that reason I always clear all 6 sentry camps and not just 4 that are required. BTW. Moderator, please move this thread to OFFICIAL MISSIONS where it obviously belongs.
