CWR² Demo

Recommended Posts

Only issues I have seen so far (was using the latest Beta):

  1. Since the roads are pretty narrow, when you get oncoming traffic in "Camping" (I think that is the name, the mission where you have Berghoff drive the HMMMV ahead of you) the mission might get totally jammed (no one will move anymore). Had to push the truck off the road to continue. Not really CWR's fault I guess :)
  2. "Montiniac must fall" did not finish. At one point, after the BMP was destroyed, the team leader stood still and didn't move anymore.
  3. In the mission directly after "After Montiniac", the team leader eventually pulled out his pistol and didn't move thereafter (not CWR's fault either but it might be a good idea to remove pistols from AI units).

Other than that, wow :) Getting all warm and fuzzy.

It seems that every west guys must be dead (or out of a certain area, i'm not sure) BUT you (including the ejected crew of the rescue chopper). And it spells "Montignac" ;)

Great work! :)

Could you please give us the classnames of the CWR² backpacks? Couldn't find them in the classname files.

My CTDs happen with out CWR2 as well. Disregard. Must be an issue with the new patch and my system.

I blame zipper5 for all campaign mission issues. :p

The CTD seems to be related to the latest beta patch cause I don't have them at all.

Rescue mission briefing is fixed, was my fault.

Me again...

I know it's a bit off topic, but since it could be interesting for CWR² user missions I might ask it here.

I'm looking for the TO&E of a US Army rifle company from the early 80's (before the introduction of the M249).

I already have the structure of a rifle platoon from the Vietnam War:

Platoon HQ

Plt. Commander, Plt. Sergeant, RTO

Rifle Squad (3x)

Sqd. Leader

Fire Team 1

Fire Team Leader, Grenadier, Automatic Rifleman (armed with a M14A1 or a M16A1), Rifleman

Fire Team 2

Fire Team Leader, Grenadier, Automatic Rifleman (armed with a M14A1 or a M16A1), Rifleman (2x)

Weapons Squad

Sqd. Leader, Machine Gunner (2x), Asst. Machine Gunner (2x) Ammo Bearers (2x), Antitank Gunner (2x), Asst. Antitank Gunner (2x)

Attachments

Mortar Forward Observer, RTO, Company Aidman

My question is: Did it change until the introduction of the M249? Was the M60 ever officially part of the rifle squads? Does anyone of you have the TO&Es of the Company HQ and Weapons Platoon?

Second question: Do you have plans to add Squad Leaders (US and USSR) and a Fire Team Leaders (only US)? I know these classes didn't exist in OFP, but they would be useful and it wouldn't be so much work to add them, would it?

Thanks for the backpack classnames! :)

A very very minor bug in Montignac Must Fall:

During the initial assault there is a small radio conversation between callsign 'Black' and callsign 'Papa Bear' saying that 'Black' is under naval bombardment; however the subtitles for the radio messages in the HUD relay callsign 'Red' instead of 'Black'.

I've loved playing through these old CWC campaign missions though guys. The ambiance of missions like Camping and After Montignac really benefit from the new ArmA 2 tree models and ground clutter in the forests of Everon.

The Zeus server for the release gaming party is up and running, so if any of you lads want to play some of the missions on a dedicated server, theres your chance. We will leave it up overnight.

We are also scrambling to add some missions for the night, but since we don't really know how many folks are planning on showing up, it's is kinda like stabbing around in the dark ;D Should anyone wish to donate a mission for the gaming night, we would be much obliged.

Everon is perfect, but I forgot how tiny it is.:D 12 villages, 5-12 houses:yay:

Also I thought that engagements wouldn't be pixel hunting, but they are actually high-res pixel hunting. (300m distances)

All subtitle issues were also there in OFP. You'll notice the subtitles at the start of After Montignac are also incorrect, but they're wrong in OFP too. :p

Adding more classes is no problem, as long as they don't require additional models. However for the sake of the original missions, an officer still will lead a squad. :)

Adding more editor groups like Fireteams is possible too, just post (or better make a ticket or send PM) with what is needed and what units should be in so I don't have to do search for the info on my own.

The M60 was part of the OFP squads, that's what is important. ;)

The added M249 and RPKs are just bonus weapons we added.

Callsigns in "Montignac must fall" are changed, thanks.

Well that's alright then.

I thought maybe some of the subtitles were mismatched with the audio due to using the OFP:Elite voice acting in previous versions, or something like that.

It's been six or seven years since I played the CWC campaign so perhaps I've developed a rose-tinted view of the game, and forgotten the dodgy parts like that. Now I kind of feel bad for pointing out one of the dear old girl's faults :D

FM 7-7 dd march 1985 describes the following organisation of a mechanised infantry squad.

Vehicle team:

- 1x M113

- driver

- gunner

Dismount team:

- squad leader (rifle)

- assistant squad leader (rifle with underbarrel grenadelauncher)

- anti-armour specialist (rifle and Dragon ATGW)

- automatic rifleman (M249)

- automatic rifleman (M249)

- grenadier (rifle with underbarrel grenadelauncher)

- rifleman/sniper (assistant to MG)

A single M60 was carried on the squad's APC and could be used by one of the squad's automatic riflemen in lieu of the M249, in which case the rifleman/sniper would act as assistant gunner. LAW's were not assigned to particular roles, but could be carried by all squad members.

Regards,

Sander

Thanks for your answer, but I'm looking for a light infantry/airmobile rifle platoon.

At least I know which Field Manual I'm looking for: FM 7-8, 31 December 1980. Unfortunately it seems the only way to get it is to pay 30 bucks or more. :(

Not quite as small as you'd think actually... Direct resampling from the original OFP heightmap gave us a 12.8x12.8km overall terrain size - which makes Everon a little bigger than well-known islands such as Duala or Lingor, for example - which are 10kmx10km

Houses and villages are, of course - faithful to the original, otherwise it wouldn't really be Everon... ;)

Armaholic mirror will be up in 40 minutes, Foxhound got the planned release time wrong.

Armedassault.info I don't know, I guess they post the news when the files are up.

I'm really sorry for the delay, should have waited with the thread until the mirrors are there.

Not quite what you're looking for but pretty close. From what little I know about squad tactics using MMGs instead of LMGs (having been a member of an army that uses the former), the big difference is in power ratio: In an LMG-supported squad you have two balanced teams (what we would call fire teams). In an MMG-supported squad you would have a manouver team (rifles) and a support team (with the MMG as the centerpiece). Your vietnam-era setup looks right on the money, and I don't think there is any reason to assume that they changed it much up until the arrival of the LMG (and with it fire teams).

EDIT: I done gone and did some extra backpack definitions because I was bored: http://pastebin.com/R4pY0ZVR

This happened earlier. Once the BMP is dead, I get a "x,y follow 1", the leader runs up towards a fountain in the middle of, ahem, Montignac, and then stands there doing nothing.. After five minutes or so a lone OPFOR passed by and was immediately gunned down by a broadside of wedge-formation (actually quite hillarious :)) but that was it. I guess some OPFOR got stuck somewhere.

And it spells "Montignac" ;)

My bad :)

Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of the mod. Playing this has brought back some great memories of playing the original OFP - Keep up the excellent work!

Buggs :)
